What knives do you use for the gralloch?

Dozier K-7 Slim Outdoorsman:

(Mine's black.)

3⅜" D2 blade.

Big enough to deal effortlessly with munties/CWD/roe; small enough not to be a burden to carry. I supplement it with an EKA tripe knife.

Two big thumbs up from me.

I'm sure I have a Dozier somewhere in my collection, great knives

Out of sheer curiosity, what knives do you all use for gralloching? I’ve gone through a few myself, from the Spyderco Bow River to the Helle Harding, Buck 110, and most recently, the ESEE Camp-Lore 2.5. (Probably should have saved the money and bought an Emberleaf)

Now, full disclosure—I may have been a couple of pints in when I ordered the Camp-Lore, so you can imagine my surprise when it arrived and I realized just how small it was. I thought, “Well, this sure is compact, but will it actually work?” Fast forward to six deer later, and I’m absolutely sold. It’s the perfect size for getting into the tricky spots without accidentally turning the whole operation into a horror show.

And speaking of pints, there’s nothing like one after a good stalk—pure bliss!
I have posted an Ali express copy of your Esee on another, similar, thread that is very good and costs around £28 delivered.

I use a couple of Stainthorp knives depending on deer size that I go out for but carry one of the above as a back up, attached to my bino pouch so no chance of forgetting it.

I actually think I asked you about that knife! It was a 4 to 6 week delivery time from Ali express for me. Ended up finding the Esee on sale and had it in about 5 days. It certainly punches above its weight

Yes, the delivery is a pain although I ordered one and was quoted November but it came in about 3 weeks.

Great little knife, very good shape to it.

Left to right
Small unzipper for all
Muntjac / Rabbits
Roe
Fallow

My go to blade is the wee muntjac, it cuts like a laser and very articulate in the cavities

I have others 🤣 like you do but these are the work horses

You obviously like Alan’s products 👍

Yep I’ve got one or two others, Alan W etc
but these Danum are the ones I like, they keep sharp, they fit my hand and just do the job
Alan does make the knife you want not what he thinks you want, I like that bit and any one of his knives doesn't feel like its been just stamped out, each one feels its had some TLC When the shooting slush fund builds up a wee bit, an unzipper the blade size of the muntjac will be a nice addition, to be honest the Muntjac will do anything apart from a bleed thats a decent gralloching blade

Eka swingblade - because that’s what I was given ages ago, I really like.
Yep
I Do like them, good bit of kit I used one last year on fallow, it worked perfectly BUT because I can only get flat grind sharp, useless at scandi or hollow grind. I let it go to someone who can keep it sharpened correctly, very easy to clean now it comes pieces as well 👍
