What pick up?

It depends on what it will be used for. I need 3.5 ton towing capacity and I will always get new every 3-4 years. Amaroks are being discontinued and Mitsubishi are leaving the European market altogether. I wouldn’t have another navara again. I’ve currently got a ranger that’s going in March at 70000 miles. Not ever missed a beat and only ever got stuck once. With decent tyres they are good units. So much so I’ve got a new one coming in March. This time I’ve had a winch fitted!!! The D max is a good vehicle I believe but not had enough to do with them to comment. The vehicle company I use for all of my lease vehicles can’t offer any good deals on the Isuzu as it only sells approx 2000-3000 units into the Uk per year that they can’t provide a decent enough discount for leasing.
So ranger for me every time. But I’m sure the humus is also good but again no experience of them.
My ranger will be available in March 3.2 wild ttsx in storm grey with canopy on the rear. Full service history and never missed a beat

good luck regards Steve

Misti are shipping out, although I have had two in the past, personally I wouldn’t go there now. Ford Ranger don’t seem to be as good as they used to be, Navara are marmite, but my good buddy loves his, it is quite new though and has a custom built shooting top.

I will be looking to get a newish pick up next year as our sole vehicle, I have a 16 year old Ranger which is an absolute dream of a truck, just the thing for hooning around the lanes and tracks of Dartmoor and chucking dead things in the back, we also have a 2 year old VW SUV, which we got new, I am NOT allowed to put dead things in that one!

So, my first choice of a newish, used truck...........Hilux, top of the range, I would get top of the range as they hold their price better.

However, there is an all new Isuzu D Max soon to be in the U.K, according to the Aussie reviews it is a real cracker of a pick up, knocking the rest and setting new standards.

Thanks mate. Interesting to know about amaroks! Way lease company do you use?

I have gone from ford to Mitsubishi. Lots of power good on fuel and very comfortable
You say good on fuel, what sort of figures ? I ask as a pal of mine reckons he struggles to get 20mpg out of his 18 month old one. He has General AT3 tyres on, relatively aggressive tread, but still, the fuel consumption is awful.
Really nice motor to drive though.

I think, if we are honest, most pick ups will struggle with mpg when booted with serious off road tyres, and used in a rural environment. Certainly where I live you will struggle to get 25 mpg, at best, there is nothing flat, it is all very hilly and steep.

Should have also added, auto every day of the week. I wouldn’t even consider a manual now.

get around 30mpg out of mine and its an Auto, 20mpg seems very low

Hilux. Isuzu is underpowered, despite no Adblue being a plus. Mitzi - leaving, VW - ending, Mercedes - ended, Ford - hear of a lot of electrical issues with the fleet where I work. Navara - seems ok, but new ones are huge.
Hilux will be bringing out a 2.8 this year in addition to the 2.4. Diff lock on all models. 5 year warranty.
Even 2nd hand they are superb, hold their value and do well. Very early 'new' models have had issues with windscreens craking, electro/camera gizmos playing up but these should be sorted under warranty.

Mpg with bud Goodrich AT tyres at 29mpg. When towing the diggers that goes to 24-25mpg. If you leave the standard continentals it comes with on then mpg is about 33 ish.
lease company I use is a company called fulton leasing and they will do a wild track on finance lease with no deposit over 4 years for about £330.00+vat. If you want extras suck as winches, canopy’s etc Thea Evan all be added into the lease agreement

Dmax or Hilux.
I have a Dmax in 2.5 and I love it. It does about 30mpg if I’m sensible and about 20mpg or less😳 if I drive it like a knob. Very happy with it, comfortable over long distance and carry’s dead **** in the back and drives well. It’s pretty good in the sticky stuff we have around my way.
I didn’t buy it for its mpg😉

Gave up on the Hilux, Constant parking sensors beeping for no reason, problem with one of the cylinders on the engine, In the 18month I had it it had 2 new rear bumpers and 1 new front bumper due to parking sensor issues, when it was working and driving across fields the sensors would constantly beep because they couldnt be switched off.
They had mine for a week to sort the engine out, I went to pick the car up and hadnt drove off the forecourt and the engine management light came back on, When I went back in to see the service guy he laughed and said very funny because he thought I was winding him up, another week later before the new part came in, Gave up and went for the new L200.
I am interested to see how the new 2.8 Hilux perform but I lost faith with the last model.

If buying, or indeed leasing, a new truck, I would give a serious look at the all new Isuzu D Max, there are some reviews on YT from Australia. The old/current one isn’t a patch on the new one, will be on UK forecourts before the summer.

Is the one from Australia going to be for sale in the uk. It probably has the same gizmos and looks but different engines! They have a 3 litre Dmax in Australia we don’t have them here.... shame!
