Depends on the intended use. But I found setting the zero stop on the X5i quite fiddly compared to other scopes.
I’m after the holy grail as usual
the scope that can do both, I did have a x5i a while back and yea I liked it. I just wondered if the z8 was a better hunting scope that can still be dialed right out to the 1000 and if its ballistic turrets were anywhere as good as the x5i

I run a ZCO now. I like the turrets a lot.
X5 is a true multi-purpose scope.
The illumination in the Z6/Z8 is better - single pin prick of red light, whereas on the X5 it’s an orange glow that lights up the inside of the tube.
Z6 & Z8 have limited elevation adjustment, whereas the X5 has 80MOA.
To my eye the Z6 had better glass than the X5. I have only had limited use of a Z8 in testing.

Do you know how much moa the z8i 3.5-28 has by chance? It’s more for sitting out and stalking really! Yea I do plink at a 1000 but in the real world anything between 500-800 yard fox is a hell of a way a away in my mind and am quite happy with tipping them over at that range if the scope lets me
It’s whether the z8i is a better sitting out scope ??I have the X5i on my 6mm br.It's the best scope I'll ever own in my lifetime.
I thought my Kahles 418TT was brilliant glass til I looked through the X5i

I plonk mine on the mat & dial in for rabbit control 400-600yds,occasional target work.
I'm not a deer stalker so is sitting out the same as lying prone on a mat ie stationary in a high seat?
Usually propped up against a wall or lying in a patch or cover for foxes on dusk and dawn or sneaking around after roe, dawn isn’t usually a issue as it gets lighter obviously as the time ticks on but dusk is a real scope killer obviously so that’s why I’m curious to what’s best?

X5i is fiddly but easy once you know, I believe they are the only scope with stainless steel turret internals. Very hard wearing, unlike brass!

I run an X5i and love it! You won’t regret getting one!Any thoughts on what you would buy? A swaro x5i 5-25 or a z8 3.5-28? Opinions welcome on only these 2 scopes if possible please

Neither, get a Z6/Z6i 5-30x50. It's a better scope than the Z8i.

And there's one for sale for £1100 in the classifieds just now.
As for the long range offerings, handling and looking through both Swaro and Kahles (same stand), I preferred Kahles.

No particular reason apart from the big turrets kind of annoyed me but they were real nice to use, I just found it made the x5i a bit of an ugly ducklingOK,got you nowWas there a particular reason you moved your X5 on?
