What's he bloody barking at?

Out at 0500 this morning with two of my three.

Usual route around the woods. Both on flashing collars (Blue for a Boy and Pink for the girl - old school I know).

Back at the bridge and there is only the 'girl' with me. Sometimes the old fella goes off for an extra three or four minutes and then rocks up without any drama.

Five minutes goes by. Nothing. Then I can hear barking. Not frantic, not aggressive and not scared, just gentle 'signal' barking...

I hook up the girl and head back into the woods.

As I get near, my head torch picks up the old fella's blue flashing light, and also a pair of 'green/yellow' eyes. Well this could be interesting.

Here is what I found.

Perfectly healthy and uninjured.

I hook up the old fella and we leave it in peace.

As we make our way out of the woods, I see another pair of 'yellow/green' eyes watching my every move... I'm guessing that will be Mum.:-|

the way its laying too me would indicate RTA?
That was my thought. Typical posture.
And looking very stressed.
Not a fawn either. Possibly the other pair of eyes in the gloom was the fawn of this one? Although she looks like a yearling to me, so maybe not.

Deer love to hunker-down in cherry laurel in the winter months but one would hope they have the good sense to avoid ingestion just as neither you nor I would burn the timber if wishing to preserve a burner’s flue.
