I think it has come around quick, feels like ive missed out a month or two!

This topic would make a brilliant subject for a physcology phd! We've got one pathological bullsh*ter making one stupid comment which is then followed by 14 pages of further opinion! This could only happen in the internet world! What is even more worrying is that I am now contributing to it! Any know a good therapist that takes venison in leiu of payment? JC

What i would like to add here to the long range shot,(i spend every day in the woods after roe) is we all know the feeling of a good boiler house shot at any range, when the deer leaps and then runs, we think I'm sure the shot was good we reload and wait the deer stops wobbles and falls. Sometimes the shot wasn't good, now even at 150-200m's the choice has to be made do i shoot again at the striken animal sometimes still moving and often swiftly. NOW what do you do WHEN this happens at 600m's when the first shot was miscalculated on a still animal at that???????
WHATS your follow up procedure or just tell me you only shoot in the head and it garuantees a kill "YEH RIGHT".
Save the long shots for rabbits foxes crows oranges milk cartons etc but not bambi.
rant over and its all wasted time it won't sink in.

wraith please no more as i have come out in a big rash as i'm allergic to bull 5h1t, put some video coverage up of you shooting target at 300 yrds / 500yrds / 600yards like this

I know this thread is closed but, what a ****, he might be able to break "SMALL" hen eggs, but no backstop!!

Enough said

It is obvious that no matter what is said on both sides of this debate we will never agree.
Therefore it seems pointless to continue with this banter.

So a proposal:Let us speak no more of anyones capabilities, or the morals of taking what some describe as a inhumane or disrespectfull shot.

Let us for a good cause(H4H) as has been suggested organise a range day!
This is not to argue the toss as who can do what, but to meet face to face.

The thread falls into two groups,
1. those that advocate we shouldn't be shooting beyond 250yds, for whatever reason!
2.Those that do shoot over 250yds.

I propose this:

Those that are against long range, shoot with their stalking rifle upto 250yds
no bipods just sticks or a bag.
Those that shoot long range will shoot twice the distance at the same size target using the rifle that they normally use, and no bringing in a target rifle( in other words no cheating).

Losing team donates so much per man.

Just a thought.

griff

Good idea, however why not have the contest over all disciplines, long rang crow/mouse and 50, 100 roe etc, don't know the possibilities of a running boar?

Using you stalking rifle from min cal. up [222 or 243 , thats another thread :) ]

Wow... Only posted a reply yesterday and looks like a months worth of post have happend in less than 24hrs. Glad the thread has come to an end.

Late into the "debate" as usual.

This kind of discussion has been the cause of several fall outs on numerous forums over the years.

It ends up with two schools of thought with no middle ground.

There is a place for both.

Just don't call long range culling, stalking;)

Long range being whatever that means to you.

Griff

great idea, like to see that, can someone enter both "sides" - I have rifles for both duties......
