whats the verdict on waren mounts and rings ? going to sell my apel swing offs from my krico and get something permanent.

warne rather than waren.
they are OK, not the high of the market but then if you have Apel I suspect you will find Warne cheap.

Have you found any "no apel mounts" that fits a Krico? Can you tell me the reference, please? I've just bought a KRICO 700 and I need fixed mounts for it.

Apel mounts, in my opinion, have some issues that I don't like: They've got a lot of adjustments,and that's ok for sighting in but it means that there's more chances for a screw to loosen and get the whole sistem to hell. They also made you to have your face far from the stock cause they're "taller" than Warne, Talley or Leupold. And the third issue, they're really expensive.

That's why I'd like to know different options for mounts on this rifle (which I've not already found).

I've have Apel mounts on my Heym for over 30 years and that rifle has fired a bullet or three. Never ever had any screw work loose in all those years.

I've found a Krico 600 with Weaver Bases, and I'm trying to confirm the reference. We're getting closer...

Found it!! EAW includes in their catalog a "2 piece warne style base". Can't remember the reference but it's about page 116 in eaw catalog.

I don't like Warne mounts. They give you no easy options to adjust the scope vertically and are fiddly to fit. A much better option are the Burris Signature Rings. The inserts give lots of adjustment options and allow you to optically centre the scope.

I wouldn't purchase a vertically split ring of any make, but there are lots of makes of rings out there that split horizontally. The 260 in my gallery has Signature rings on Weaver type bases.

I had Apel rings and bases, I don't like 3 piece mounts.........Lining up everything I find a pain. I now have a set of Warne which, to be honest, I realy don't mind. I am now awaiting the imminant arrival of a set of mounts from 3rd Eye Tactical.

I personally dont like horizontally screwed mounts, which unless I am wrong most Warne mounts are (talking about the scope retaining section regardless of the mounting mechanism), apart from being ugly they are just something else that catches on the rifle sleeve!

fixed apels

Exchanged the Warne vertical split ring mounts on my Sauer 202 for fixed horizontal Apel split rings and wont EVER go back.
