When you think its a lost cause.

Rain scuppered Saturday evening’s stalk so the alarm was set for Sunday morning. Gave a bit of drizzle and mist but was hopeful of it being ok.
Loaded the van and set off, drizzle for a start and by the time i arrived it was quite misty. Really didn’t fancy it and sat in the van for a while till the light started to crack. Got the gear on and set off on the usual route, theres a few more roe appeared and theres been a pair close to the land owners place that the dogs have been chasing so that was the first port of call, as the light came the visibility improved slightly so was encouraged.
A scan with the thermal and sure enough there they were grazing happily 300 yards away and having the wind and mist making ground up should be a cinch, made a good distance and got the gun on sticks and watched for a while, as the doe squatted for a pee she turned her head sideways presenting a gimme headshot so the round was sent with a reassuring thump, one down.
Dragged to the nearest tree for the gralloch and a quick drink and off in search of a group of 6 that has been reported.

It didn’t take long to locate them crossing a bridleway about 80yds in front of me, they didn’t spot me but no safe shot as they crossed so gave them a bit of time to make their way towards the wood where a safe shot could be taken. By the time i’d caught up with them they were almost 200yds away on the edge of the wood so only had the chance of one. Selected a doe and nailed that and the group sprinted off into the woods as expected.

That was that for the day, a good mornings work when i thought the conditions would ruin my chances.
