Which .22lr ?

Confusing isn’t it

REACH is an EU invention

Largely a protectionist racket !

I speak as someone who spent a considerable period advising multi nationals on COSHH and the US equivalent

I’m out of date now but …

As I understand it

Lead shotgun banned other than for the elites and toffs

Large calibre hunting with lead banned
despite no evidence of the link between consumption of venison and high Pb blood levels
(Which gov has tried to tap dance around)

.22LR allowed in doors and outdoors when Pb management in place

The real target is not the Env or public health- but shooting itself

Am I missing something???
I’m probably a minority of 1, but I think the shooting orgs have done a pretty good job blunting the impact of the original proposals, and BASC was there front and centre, right up until BREXIT and UK REACH going on a solo run.

I think it’s fair to conclude that practice, range sessions, target shooting and anything fun related will die a quick death when lead is ultimately banned completely. The cost of copper and rising cost of components will make it virtually unaffordable to 99.9% of shooters, except for the lucky few and those really committed to investing in their sport
50 Barnes TTSX are half a tank of petrol equivalent, depending on your vehicle. Has it stopped folks driving ? No ! It is only fuel shortages at the pumps that do that. As more makers build in copper and other none toxic materials the cost will level out via competition .
Already i am fine with shooting Rabbits etc with my copper handloads and as regards Deer its just not even relevant fiscally speaking .
Yeah it has cut down my volume I practice with but I still do train with copper and it does get my attention . You cant make hard shots without quality training and practice

The bullet will remain perhaps the cheapest part of the sport , I doubt it .

My FAC is due for renewal next February and was thinking of asking for a second 22 rimfire. My old BSA Supersport V has a photon on it, so I wanted something to use in daylight(I can cover up a stainless barrel).
Before reading this thread(not read all of it), I had already considered the Tikka T1X, a new CZ 457 and a second-hand BRNO.
Would my Parker Hale moderator have the same thread?
If I could see a seller shoot a group with their second-hand BRNO/CZ, then that would seem an option, are there synthetic replacement stocks available for them, though?

What the new Government decides re the lead ban is, I know, crucial!

As has been said in this thread many times get a BRNO that has been well looked after.Whatever condition it will be cheap and their accuracy/reliability is legendary. To make sure fire it before purchase to ensure it groups well-very few fall down in this respect.Richard.ps mine is 60 years old and with cheap ammo can still shoot 1/2 inch groups at 50 yards.

When I bought my BSA, a friend bought a BRNO. I always regreted not making the same decision.
