Which is the best military surplus goretex jacket ?

Ex Dutch Army Goretex parka. Best £10 I ever spent on eBay.
These are better than UK kit. Probably better for stalking as well.

UK MVP wproofs do the job. Pockets are in the wrong place except on specialist designs. Generally only to be used in absolutely honking rain and if fairly static but what do you want for 20-30 quid?

The paclite jackets are decent for stowing in a ruxksack and/or walking around camp but not really suitable for hard field use.

I was given RAF cold weather gear gortex outer, inner wool liner very thick great for sitting in a high seat. But generally I find a good day in poor rainy weather alway best to take two of everything so at least you can change in the car

I have used the UK Goretex jacket and trousers, the trousers are good but can be noisy, the jacket suffers from lack of hood (in the version I have) I have now setted on the French Goretex jacket, lots of secure pockets a massive hood and a very useful high collar, 100% waterproof so far and very well made, a little bit more than some of the others, but the quality makes it worth it .
I also think the colours work better in the woods than the current UK pattern

Dont seem to be as impervious to rain anymore and need a new work jacket. I was going to buy a brand new ex UK MOD surplus heavy goretex jacket and possibly trousers to replace my existing set. I prefer army surplus as generally a lot heavier duty than low end hill walking type jackets.
Just wondering are any other countries military goretex a better buy.

I bought one off these lads - £75, unissued.

Genuine Army Surplus Store

Austrian Army M65 Gore-Tex/Sympatex Jacket - unissued × 1
Extra Large (fits up to 49 inch chest)(112/116) / Regular (1.8m) 6’ 0” / Green

Mine is Dutch. Years of use with no issues.

Years ago a site member did a side by side comparison on which DPM was the most effective. From memory the flecktarn came out on top.

Any recommendations how to buy surplus gear, simply order from a web or go to try in a shop? I am thinking buying either Austrian Alpine (mountain) or Dutch army Goretex jacket - my Google research suggests that most reviewers seem to think they are better than UK surplus gear, and US is more expensive and fewer retailers. I do not have a shop nearby to drop in and buy, but, at the same time, I read that often the jacket are notably more generous, so might be loose
Thanks

This site has a good range of surplus gore Tex jackets, I ordered some boots recently, really happy with them.

I just been looking at them and sent them a question what is Serviceable condition - their site does not have such condition, only Unissued, Super Grade, Grade 1, DISTRESSED, not even Grade 2...

I also have a French cameo gorges jacket, totally wind and waterproof, long length and can be very warm. I don’t use it for light rain/showers only when I’m likely to get a good soaking, not let me down yet. Mud and crud just wipes off with a wet rag.

if you want British kit then Hellfire trading can be recommended.... decent kit at reasonable prices... dont know which other shows they do but usually at Game Fair, Frampton Fair
