What would be a decent thermal scope to sit on a 22lr for close range rats ?

Some people say any thermal scope will do for rat shooting, but personally low end thermal scopes, you cannot identify a hoof to a rat in some situations.... Scares me to death, some people are trigger happy around sheds and barns, small gaps under gates or holes with a bit of heat and its easy to make a mistake...

Whats your budget on one...

2nd hand Photon is what I use. Super bit of kit and you can ID what your shooting.

plenty lads doing ratting with NV as opposed to thermal.... maybe an option and way under a 2k budget

i use a theobhan rapid 12 fac in .22 and pard 007 and works well... i can also use my dnt zulu which i prefer

I use a thermal spotter , the pard 008 on top of my R10 , I shoot around 200 rats a month minimum,
its a great combo never let me down, ive thermal on 2 rifles and to be honest you don't need thermal for ratting,
but that's only my opinion .

Hello, I would look at a Thermal spotter and a Day/Night scope, But that Photon is a good buy, I used one on my CZ 22 L/R , Accounted for 100s of Rabbits, I use a sub 12 PCP for ratting, Good Luck

Well first essential bit of kit is a thermal
There is a Helion XQ 38f for sale on here at present for £500. V good bit of kit. It will do everything you need.
Use thermal to locate rats then shoot with digital NV.
You should be able to get the whole lot under £750. Save the extra £1k.

How do you get on with that at close range please? Obviously the lrf should help alot but do you run the ballistic on it and is it any good of very close say 10 yards or less?
