Which winch?

Thanks for all the replies. Rightly or wrongly I've taken a punt on the Rhino winch with dyneema rope my mechanic is fitting it in a couple of weeks. I'll resurrect the thread at a later date and let you know my thoughts. Thanks again.
How did you get on with this ? Mine comes today

Also whats best way of mounting in say an amorak or ranger was going to make a bar to go across load bay out of angle iron ?

I have a bar mounted to the cargo points, worked okay on the Reds so far. I also use motorbike ramps with added rollers to assist loading.

I don’t have a winch or a truck. But the alternative could be a mechanical arm that I have seen on the back of some Can-Am type things. Saves the back and no electricity required. Might that work?

Mickey are the power leads connected direct to the battery and terminating in the connector?
I was instructed that with electric winches there should always be an emergency stop/isolator switch fitted in a convenient easily accessible position for safety reasons. My employers ended up retro fitting such devices to quite a few vehicles as the vehicle suppliers and body builders had neglected to install them when fitting out the vehicles when they were first purchased or built.

The winch came with the cabling to hard wire into the battery. I have a 12v socket in the load area but was told that isnt sufficient for a winch requiring a bit of poke

It is a Ninja Warrior 4500 winch

Yeah works a treat I'm please with it. I’ve got it wired to the battery with an isolator switch under the bonnet that requires a key to turn it on prior to use so it doesn't drain the battery when not in use. I've tried it on a few reds without issue. I have a manual control switch in the back as well as the 2 remotes. It took my mechanic a fair while to install it and there was a £200 bill but it saves my back so what's £200! Worth every penny so far.
Mines fitted to a 50mm box section steel bolted into the rear 2 anchor points.

Next question then what is every one finding as best ramp ? Been looking at folding motorcycle ramps but want something slightly wider as dont want to have to carry 2 ? Will be to pull a game sledge up and in

I made a ramp out of 4 sections of old surveying ladders, the small aluminium ones that are designed to fit into a car boot. The front 2 sections are bolted together to double the width, the back 2 simply plug/unplug to join it together. It comes apart easily and very quickly and takes up very little room sat flat in the pickup bed. I've screwed hard plastic sheets to the top to form the ramp surface. You're right about having a wide ramp though. I had a narrow ramp prior to this one and there's nothing worse than the deer dropping off the sides as you're dragging them up.

Looks like a conveyor belt 😁

Is that a butt out ? 🤔

Mine fold in half and have carrying handles and don’t really take up much room. The rollers do make a huge difference to the ease of winching the carcase into the truck as the surface of the ramps is quite jagged. A smooth surface, like Primate’s, is probably the best option if you are thinking of making something up yourself.

Bit of ply wood sheet at a steep angle, gets to a point when it pivots then just slides in with deer on top
Cheers
