Why am I only seeing roe does?

Probably a stupid question for the pros on here but it is my first season shooting a small (25 acre) wood. Have been out 3 or 4 times now both early morning and late evening and seen loads of shootable deer EXCEPT all does . Is that normal at this time of year?

Once the Rut is over, the Bucks tend to wander off and recuperate for some much needed R&R.

Come mid to late September they should start to show face again.

As above, on one of my patches last year they didn't show till October time again, I think a mix of post rut as well as the added presence from cultivation and drilling following harvest kept them away, though different to the woods but maybe impacted from whatever is around the woods as well

Or the stalkers around you are culling the bucks much harder than the does

First law of stalking, those out of season are as bold as brass, those in season hide very well!
