Winter Fuel Letter

Mind you the universal credit is hopeless apparently no help phone number of any practical use, all contact via a journal app which they ignore as much as they like, a family members due to change in circumstances has been trying for three month now and on going to get a claim towards their housing rent paid. In the mean time they are struggling big time to live.

The universal credit system is not fit for purpose, told them what to do buy a rubber dingy and sit in it on Dover beach they would in hours get free housing and living help.

This country is a total mess.
 
One chap near me is now a multi millionaire.
No problem with that as far as I'm concerned except that it's come about via the tax payer.
Some of which are on significantly less than 40k per annum!
This local chap grows thousands of acres to grow elephant grass.
The idea being that Blair's new labour wanted to encourage renewable energy and pays out for growing the shite .
Getting it to burn is a royal pain in the arse but if you can get it to burn and dry more of the shite to sell you get more per tonne from the stupid government and their freaking civil servants.
After years of struggling with the elephant grass he gave up on it as a fuel.
So now, he has half a forest felled regularly and delivered to the yard whereupon a massive chipper arrives regularly from Germany to chip it so it can be dried on his drying floor heated by, yes you guessed right, the previous forest half!
The tax payer is making him rich by burning stuff he does not need to burn and adding nothing to mankind in any meaningful way.
Has he stopped growing the stupid grass? Hell no, he'd lose millions of taxpayers money per annum, even if most of it rots!
So here we are being told how we must save the planet by dumping our diesel car but he can burn as much of useless so called harmful co2 gas producing shite as he wants and get paid for it in part by me!

And our resident Mr Black and White wonders why the fcuk I'm freaking bitter.
I hope his luck continues because if it doesn't God is he in for a shock!

Wildbird cover is the one that gets me. The landowner on our patch, who is several generations into "Farming" is basically in the process of squaring off all his fields with Wildbird cover to make it easier to farm, some fields he is putting the whole field into it... even the chaps who work on the farm are unhappy with it, they are saying he is taking productive land out use instead of growing food... and taking taxpayers money...

The farm out the back of my house is the opposite, he is a guy who sold his IT business a couple of decades ago and has purchased two farms totalling about 1500 acres, he has hardly any Wildbird cover, preferring to put the unproductive land into grass and has moved into small scale beef cattle & sheep, he employs a couple of keen youngsters to look after this side of things, he has as many staff employed on the land as the other chap has on twice the acreage...

The Elephant grass scam seems to be similar to the scheme in Ireland with generating renewable energy, I think it was from burning pellets, they got paid per kilowatt or something and a lot was not needed/wasted just to keep claiming the handouts... it was only a few years ago :doh:

Yes, shut down the government for years there and very quickly hushed up over here.
The general public have no idea how government and civil servants are ruining everything but like to pontificate from their high ivory tower's.

I think it's likely to be a bit more complicated than that. You would obviously have to work for them for your whole life and some to get that and not 12 months, surely?

indeed looks very complicated, probably depends on when you first joined the civil service as like lots of big businesses they have over the years tried to reduce the value of pension contributions they make and the cost of running pension schemes.

that was in the Uk as well. there are plenty of rich people with swimming pools heated in this manner
 
Of course what the Government could do...what Johnson could have done (but strangely didn't - not of course that he's a liar) is remove the 5% VAT on domestic energy bills. The 5% that Johnson told us we couldn't remove until we "took back control" from the EU and Brexited.

The argument that it was too difficult to do is nonsense. It is now very simple to proive, for example, if a property is Band A or Band B or whatever or to prove that occupants, or an occupant, is over sixty-five.

This latter the energy companies themselves have a "priority register" that those over sixty-five are listed on if they notify their gas and electric utilities supplier. It shows on your bill as a capital letter "P".

I guess with all his being occupied with promoting his cronies to the House of Lords that he maybe just didn't have the time to get it done? Now what was the word I was searching for to save writing the word Johnson all the time...ah, yes, here is is....sh1t.

Boris Johnson promised that household gas bills will be cheaper if Brits backed Brexit.
