I’m after a days woodcock or snipe shooting, either late this season or for next season if anyone knows of any?
Cheers

Very poor here this season, in fact the past couple of years have been bad. Spent 2 hours running my setter across the mountain bog this afternoon, pre Covid he would’ve put up at least a dozen snipe and a couple of woodcock from the bushes. Only one snipe today.

I think bird flu has done a fair bit of damage unfortunately.

It’s amazing the damage it does to seperate bird species. Seems swans are basically done for if they get it whereas mallard seems to affect far less. Hopefully the wood on and snipe aren’t on the same bracket as swans!!

That’s odd bouncing with woodcock on my land in Lincolnshire and Yorkshire

Good to hear woodcock numbers high over there. Actually saw a few this weekend when out stalking.

We have lots of woodcock this year and more snipe than usual. Tried a new bit of land last Sat and rose 14 in an hour's hunting. Last Sat we saw well over 100 snipe and probably 30 woodcock though we didn't really do much decent woodcock cover. Am regularly seeing 7 or 8 flighting at dusk when out stalking regardless of where I am.
Have a day at woodcock tomorrow and then have 4 days this weekend which will be split between stalking and hunting woodcock.
