Xmas Deliveries & Courier Overload Problems

Hi All

Just a heads-up to anyone thinking of ordering goods from us in the Xmas run-up; Royal Mail will be striking again, and this is already having a major knock-on effect with couriers not being able to cope with the increased demand.

Therefore, please try and avoid "last-minute" ordering to avoid disappointment..

Many thanks

Rob

First class has been taking upto 12 days here tbh.
They're shooting themselves in the foot as people are discovering alternative parcel services.
And as some Czech millionaire owns most of it they're in for a shock when he takes over.

Agree, RM handed the business to their competitors.

Problem is that the likes of Evri, Yodel etc are now overloaded and trying to get staff to work 7 days per week, consequently packages are getting lost more frequently and you can't speak to human to resolve a claim. Had a pair of Lowa boots go "missing" last week 🤢

hopefully this will be the nail in the coffin for RM that the powers that be have been looking for.

Lets be honest- the days of important stuff coming through the letterbox are long gone (speaking from a working class point of view). After a recent few days of strike action the postie couldnt wait to get to me.... those 9, yes 9 really important leaflets he smashed through the letterbox just had to make it through 😂

Lets hope the postal workers solidarity is worth it 🤔 as they wont be Christmasing on tip money this year I tell thee.

Hi Rob,

I’m after some gaiters to go with the boots I ordered from you, what would you recommend?

Thanks

Nick

Which is the quickest and best way to a parcel these days?
Regards
Colin
Royal Mail for under 2kg 1st class is £4.45, if over 2kg it's Parcelforce at £8.00 on a supposedly 48hr basis.

The likes of Evri etc are slightly cheaper but delivery lead-times can vary greatly, and there's the risk of something not being delivered when no one's home and the parcel then going back to a depot and disappearing.

Over a 12 month period we don't make anything on p&p. Courier shipping rates are also going up again in January.

The parcel logistics business seems in a bit of a mess at the moment :-|

I hope more RM employees understand the fact that they are striking themselves and their colleagues into mass redundancies ? Thats IF their employers lasts ! To my postie who thought it funny it took them a week and a half to get a special delivery to me , I hope your the first to go !
Everyone is hurting with inflation and frankly the private sector delivery firms are beating RM services and if i could get a DPD dangerous goods account , i would be gone as a RM customer . Less customers BTW means " less staff", "less and lower future pay rises" . This is at a time people are doing the maths about carrying out trading in the UK !
Remember how fast Scargill managed to shut down the Pits ? !

I think most have to add or sacrifice their selling prices to a degree , to cover the true cost of posting goods. unrecoverable costs , cost rises , lost packages , extra admin etc , etc .

Customer,s take so much then walk away, as I said I think they're going to regret this " action"

Yes they will Royal mail will end , parcelforce will be privatized . Remember the phones and mail was once GPO ? I remember my Dad having to strike because of the posties and the phones of course where sold off silly cheap and BT and shareholders made mega money . BT are now making mega money globally and frankly they dont give a monkeys about the UK now.
Lets not forget we pay twice for the post office once in our taxes and once in our use of the service and they aint the best , i would much rather be DPD
Striking yourself out of work and a good pension, is rather dumb and when people in private companies are hurting with pay and cost of living they have no sympathy for the guy who drops off the junk mail !

Just be careful what you wish for.

We could do with any number of Branch Lines in the 21st Century and as operated by British Rail before the Beaching cuts. Of zero interest to a private operator but with the right investment by Government and based on improving quality of life as distinct from profit a winner.

In fact the sooner all Public Transport is withdrawn from private ownership the better. Hell, who wouldn’t wish that were the case with the utilities?

Royal Mail was privatised a number of years ago.
Not actually true in the whole , yes areas are though ( a good contingency ) even parcelforce are not fully private ( though i am told that nobody in their office wants these strikes ) have even been phoned twice to survey how many clients commercially are staying with them ! . If it was private 100% it would be more efficient , totally free of taxpayers money ( no such thing as government money it just our money being spent by the irresponsible ) If you don't get that after the great covid give away , there is no hope . The big issues as always that folks don't seem to get is profit fuels investment and "break- even" is impossible to achieve !
A private company faced with such " more money " demands would frankly wave redundancies and longer hours , more efficient working practices for higher wages . If you think all royal mail staff want this strike your very wrong , however within the post office there has always been over unionization and left wing political agendas. Problem is when you run out of " other people's money "

Speaking of my own experiences over the past 12 months, I have sent a lot of parcels, I made an error of judgement and during that time I switched to Evri, so out of all the parcels I sent, 100% sent via Royal Mail got there, 20% of Evri parcels didn't, and their customer service is sh1te.

Evri are just a renamed Hermes - in my opinion and experience the worst delivery company in the UK. I’m not disagreeing with the RM comment, silly sods just trying to put themselves out of work. Their union is the big issue here sadly.
