Yellowish colored liver in pheasant - safe to consume?

Hello everyone, well, i was lucky enough to take home a hare and some phaesants the other day, but when cleaning out one of the pheasants, i noticed that the color of its liver wasnt the usual deep red, but rather a yellowish colour. It was not spotted or anything, and its surface looked normal too, with no cysts, as did the bird itself, but now i am wondering if it is safe for consumption?

What is the opinion of the SD knowledge bank, on this?

Yes, it'll be fine.
I think it's just a fatty liver. Been eating maize, most likely.
(Happy to be corrected on that, but it's what I've always assumed, and survived eating them).

Yellow. Like foie gras colour? As VSS says it's likely been gorging on the feed bins.

Hello @enfieldspares and thank you for chipping in .-) - Yes, i'd say so, and it didnt look bigger than the others either, just different in color.
