Yumove

Hi. Ive got an 8 month old lab and been looking on yumove. Is it worth stating him on it just now. What tablets does the people that do use it use? Or is there any other joint supplements people recommend?

I wouldn’t because then you are pretty much committing to feeding it to him for the rest of his life and I prefer an easy life

At that age I would just add sardines, salmon oils etc to his regular diet, you get plenty natural supplements to add to regular food, more importantly make sure his regular food is of good quality.

Whatever you feed also remember to keep the weight off of him, 99% of dogs in the UK (probably more like 99.9%) are obese or morbidly obese. Couple that with a desire to work and it is no wonder that their joints end up prematurely buggered.

Yeah i am conscious of his weight. Nothing worse than seing a fat lab . Just want too try and help as much as i can so he doesn’t struggle later in life

I was going too start using sardines but didn’t want too end up giving him too much as there is salom oil in his food. He is on chapel farm kibble at themoment

Serious Tip…. Don’t allow pups to run flat out for anything over 20m ( dashing about is ok) but any distance before their joints etc are fully formed is most definitely storing up trouble in the future. They will want to run.. be cautious.

THIS^, our ten year old Lurcher / Collie x has been on it for two or three years now, she was pretty rough with her joints & neck till we put her on it ... it's very good stuff.

My oldest Lab bitch is on joint supplements. Instead of Yumove I used generic make, same results as far as I can see but much cheaper.
I used Viovet, Google search will find them, senior dog joint supplements.
Markedly cheaper, they arrive in the post within 3/4 days.

we buy Dried Sprats by the kg as supplement and treat and the dog loves it - cheaper than sardines - toxic fish breath helps with guard dog duties as well

Also avoid letting pup do too much while very young …..

YuMove worked wonders for our old Cockers, especially the one with arthritis, but I'm not sure I'd start from the word go!

Absolutely with spanj, too much too young and they'll suffer for it in the long run.

Older dogs get green lipped mussel capsules or cod liver oil.
Cheaper and in my experience works well.

Spaniel sweeties we call them.

Cod liver oil works a treat for sure! And something you can give your dogs anytime in their life, not just when they start to show a little wear and tear.
