The American Conquests preceded the HD5s; they are marked Assembled in USA . I have a 5-25 x50 Conquest HD5 - great scope for the money and way better than my old (USA) conquest.

Thankyou this one certainly says assembled in Germany.

Just FYI. Zeiss have never produced a scope in china, they’re produced in Japan. Whole different ball game in terms of production standards.
