Zipper- straight or curved edge?

Don’t mind either, both work, but straight edge much easier to sharpen and strop.

Also found longer ones harder to use as they find a way of going off track.

4cm cutting edge is about spot on for me.

I like the curved edge of an Eka swingblade for gralloching but the straight edge of a Mora roeing knife for skinning, sorry to be no help at all!!

Interesting I borrowed an eka for skinning the other week at a butchery course and thought the curve helped and it was much better for the legs than the roe knife I have tried before

Tbh it might be what I'm used to as the Eka lives in the roe sack and the roeing knife in the larder

I thought same about sharpening, for curved edge cylindrical rods will work easier than stones. Thanks for sharing your thoughts about it

Yeah, I recieved few requests and drawings, so I know people have different needs and preferences. I must do 2 different and send both for a trial
🤣

Best gutting blade I have ever used is on one of these.

On muntjac, roe and even small fallow this blade can go from pelvis to chin in pretty much one motion. Straight through the ribs no bother.

Just a pity it’s a pig to clean and the rest of the knife is folding making it a taboo.

Yep decent bit of kit, very sharp and well made, used mine twice, give up on the cleaning process in the end, sits in the drawer now

I have both straight and curved gralloch blades recently changed to a small 3” and its use is for just opening up and tipping out, field gralloch, very agile little blade ,tidies up the insides a treat, no scratches on ribs just right, anything else gets done back at base with a different blade
