What sound mod?

AFAIK the PES T12/T12 scout is not fully strippable in that the baffles are crimped in and only the rear section unscrews...

I've got a PES large muzzle can which weighs 500g and cost £200, it's not strippable, but I like it that way. I think of it as a poor man's JetZ: a bit longer, a bit fatter, but slightly lighter and stainless :)

Mat, They are advertising the new lighter T12 Scout as fully strippable, hence the exploded drawing/picture in the advert.

I've seen the diagram and I'm not convinced the end baffle bit is strippable, so unless they've not updated the diagram, someone is stretching the term 'fully strippable' a bit... The baffles are pressed discs that are held in a tube, the end of the tube is rolled in, then closer to the middle of the tube, it's crimped all the way round. As far as I can tell, it's still the same design in the diagram! The difference between the large muzzle can and the T12 is that the Large muzzle can has the end welded on and that end is threaded for screwing straight on to the muzzle, the T12 has a removeable tube instead...

Someone correct me if I'm wrong! :)
 
I'm very pleased with with my Quicksilver titanium mod. It might be 8 inches long, and front mounted, but it only weighs 360 grams and looks pretty!

You make my point, here is my steel A-Tec CCM extends barrel by 5” and weighs 385gms

Of course there are ones made to the same design but in aluminum or stainless steel that weigh in at from 200gms.

I am a fan of Titanium and even have a rifle with a Ti action but IMO the people making TI moderators have not quite got the right balance of materials and design, Oh and they are charging far too much for them.

But if you are happy with yours then that is what matters most.

PS I think mine looks nicer than yours.:-D

I have had and broken numerous T8's and a wildcat. I tried a Jet Z compact and have nothing but praise for them, i replaced all my mods with Jet Z's and have never looked back. Completely reliable, robust and easy to maintain. I only used 243 at the time of the moderator problems so i wasnt "overgunning" them. The Jet z has been sat on my 30-06 for 3 years now, still looks like new.

T8's are good for noise reduction but i got annoyed by the mettalic "ting" when you fire a shot, you don't get that with the Jet z or the Wildcat. Personally, i dont like modular/take apart moderators, there are too many variables and parts that can come undone. Just my opinion and my experience guys.

Mat, I apologise unreservedly! :oops: You are entirely correct. I got in touch with the makers and they tell me that they did not see the need to make them fully strippable.

Important to check the weight, friend of mine had a one of them long Australian jobs on a swift which weighed 1kg...
didn't even moderate well either.
A-tec modular or the Roedale Delta are possibly the best on the market,
not only because of sound reduction, one has the flexibility of making it longer or shorter.
One can add a few smaller baffles and throw it on a smaller caliber,
one could get a few aluminium baffles and make it ultra light.
Get as spare rear end for a new thread size.......

The whole package has more to offer

I am with you on this, I think the A-Tec/Roedale Delta type designs are the best out there at the minute, light quiet and versatile.

a mate of mine bought one last week and hes taking it back,it throws sparks out of the front which isnt powder as his rifle has never done that with or without a mod fitted,also its very very loud,for £595 you would have thought it would be the quietest but its far far from that,I will say its very well made but you would expect that for what they charge,Iam glad I didnt buy one.

No Worries! I was partly speculating about it given that I don't own the T12... More speculation, but I reckon that they made the T12 partly strippable so that it would possible to rethread as necessary, it'd be a bit of a nightmare to do if you couldn't remove the inner tube.

I've got one of the older A-tec mods, bummer, a few months later and I would have had the option of either the cheaper Jager SA version or the lighter modular one... :oops: Such is life !

Watch this space...there are other models to come from us, we are just waiting on new CNC machines to be installed and then we hope to finish our range of mods, one being stainless in construction! ;)

Hi there, Popey here, i have and I belive in the Jet Z's, I have one on my 243 as well as my 7x57. I can say that i have a T8 on my 308, but the weight and size comparison comes down to the Jet Z without any question every time. Hope this helps and as long as you shoot straight. it does not matter what you have on the end of your rifle. If you miss you can allways blame the silencer... :-)
