Welcome to the forum.

Where in Sweden are you? I have happy memories of field work near Gavle.

Scrummy

About 250km north of Gothenbourg....100km southeast of Oslo..Just on the Norwegian boarder. Gävle is aprox. 450km east northest from me .

Welcome to SD Jonny

I have a younger brother living in Ljungskile & working in Gothenburg also some Swedish friends from Gothenburg that hunt as your do.

Cheers
Chris

Welcome Swedehunter,

I was near Linkoping hunting with friends a couple of weekends ago, drew a blank but was an amazing country to hunt in. Red Squirrels and wood peckers all over the place, a capercaillie fly over me and I didn't now what the hell it was.
Absolutely awesome country with the feel of proper old wilderness and will definitely be going again.

Hope you enjoy the SD, be good to see some hunting pictures from Sweden on here.
cheers Tom

Ljungkile is about 2 hrs drive from me Chris...or..Just around the corner as we say........Linköping and that area got some nice Wild boar and Fallow deer populastion Tom and that Capricallie are hard to get ;-) I'll post some pics from this season..Wild boars are hunted in the south parts of Sweden where i have a hunting ground...rest are just where i live...

Hej Jonny. Welcome to a great forum. I am just west of Oslo. I had an interesting Osprey/pike/ car encounter at Ljungskile on my way to bukkejakt last year. A story for the grandchildren :D

Hi and thanks for the welcoming. It all depence on the hatching season. This year it's bad ( too much cold rain in the spring) so it's almost no chickens just adult birds. Those seasons like this it's better to lighten the pressure and save the birds for next year.
But a normal good year and the statistic gives you 1 bird ( capricallie , Black Grouse or Hazel Grouse ) on every trip it's concider verry good...and 1 bird for 4-8 walking hours hunt?...well...it's not like shooting Pheasants for sure but when you bag one the satitisfaction are so much higher...in this hunt you never get anyting for free ;-) I think i got around 80 at the most one season back in mid'80s when fox was gone.
