Looking for help here , I have been looking at a new jacket made by Country Covers who are now Fortis, but am wondering if the company is related to Arktis as the products look very similar.

I have dealt with Country Covers (now Fortis) over the past 5 or 6 years have met the owners at various country shoes. As far as I was aware they are not related to any other company but CC/fortis are based in Axminster, Devon and Artkis in Exeter not a million miles apart and some of the stuff does look very similar

Country Covers are changing name to Fortis I believe, and Arctis is their Military/Police side. Same designs and standards basically. Very very good kit.

I have an Arktis jacket I use a lot. Last year I needed to replace the zip. As the jacket his an Arktis label inside with their phone number on, I called them, only to be told I would have to deal with CC. So I called CC, who wanted me to go back to Arktis. I got it sorted out in the end and CC kindly carried out the repair FoC. I'm still a bit confused, though!

Arktis all the way for me, in fact go on their website as the sale is on. I just got a £286 jacket for £50 (+£4.80p+p) with next day UPS delivery

I've got a jacket and four pairs of trousers from Country covers. First two pairs of trousers were so good that I bought another two pairs the next year at the same show. The second lot of trousers literally fell apart within months and the first lot are still going strong. Massive difference in the quality. When I phoned them to speak about getting repairs / replacements they couldn't of cared less. Needless to say they won't be getting anymore business from me.
The jacket was bought at the same time as the first lot of trousers and it is of excellent quality as well but what their current stuff is like I don't know.

That tallies with my experience. Stuff from years ago, bomb proof. My last pair of trousers from them will be the last. IIRC cargo pockets were an extra on combat trousers. WTF !

I've had a few things from CC and Arktis over the years. All have been superb. Am surprised at negative comments. I hope they sort it out.

Phoned Arktis about the sale ,and was looking at the kommando jacket. I asked the lady on the phone if the jacket was water proof as I could see no mention of this , after checking she said it WAS NOT water proof, £286 is a wee bit steep for me for a non-waterproof jacket.

I'd agree, but for 40 quid it's got to be worth a try!

Probably the reason the kommando is not in itself waterproof is because it forms part of a two part system where you need their rainshield as an under jacket, as is the case with their stalking smock.

i bought the Smock and had it customised with zips in side ect , it doesnt really fit well but wore it th eother weekend and it leaked like a sieve , i returned it they firstly said it was coming in through zips as no flaps on and also tried to tell me i was not telling the truth , they said they tested it and it didnt leak , anyway they put flaps on zips and reproofed it sent it back wore it again last weekend and guess what still leaked , totally unimpressed so ive bought a Nomad and they are brilliant do exaclty what they should ie keep you dry
no more fortis or country covers for me

I've got a jacket from what was country covers and have no complaints. I had it 6mths then wanted some bits changing on it I gave it to them at the shooting show and had it back in 2 wks, I didn't have to pay anything for thefor the customizing or return postage. I've also got some waterproof trousers that leaked after a time, sent them back to them, I don't know what they did to them but they've not leaked since even in the monsoon we've had recently. It seams the customer service is a bit hit and miss but I'd buy from them again as I've found them good to deal with

Have you asked for a refund? If not, please please please please send it back, ask for a full refund, they are in breach of contract, and you should not be out of pocket due to sending faulty goods back by post or courier, people not bothering chasing them up is why this company and others feel they can treat customers in this way.

i will do this im totally ****ed off with them and the way they talked to me made me feel it was my fault and spoke to me like i was a child , i want to buy britsh and can put up with the lack of style and features but not the lack of waterproof
