A/T tyres for Hilux 17" alloys

Hi I'd like to resurrect this post, and find out what people think 12 months on. I'm getting a 3ltr hilux on 17" rims, and really want mud tyres, but catching/rubbing/size availability seems to be the problem, so may have to resort to AT tyres. Any recommendations/help. Thanks!
Kev.

BFG mud terrains are definitely available in a size without issues for your hilux. All-terrains suffer from the same problems if the wrong size is fitted. If my memory serves me correct I fitted 265/65/17s and have had no issues. 270/65/17s will rub.

Hi all, I've fitted my 65 plate invincible with BFG MT 265/70r17 on steel modular wheels. (In gallery) They do rub and it is very annoying. I cut 2"x1" off the bumper and heated up the inner arch which pushed in...so no rubbing!.You can't see what has been removed unless shown. Bought from silverline who provided excellent service. You do have to watch with newer models when putting on steel wheels as they have bigger calipers and 16" wheels will catch.

cheers

If you'd fitted 265/65/R17 I don't think you would of had that problem. My hilux came with the bigger size tyre and you could see on the tyres where they were rubbing. A decent tyre garage should be able to tell you what fits and what doesn't. Dingwall tyres told me straight away that I would need to fit the smaller tyres. The difference in the two tyre sizes stood together is minimal anyway.

I've searched high and low, but can't see BFG muds in 265/65/17 anywhere, they don't seem to list them on the BFG website either. If you could point me in the right direction, that would be good! May have to chance 70 profile, with a mudflap mod, or AT's.
