This petition is a must sign........

Am I understanding this right, there is a petition going round one of the richest countries in the world that already keeps 99.3% of it's national wealth to it's self, so that it stops sharing the pittance that it currently gives....?

I appreciate that there is huge social inequality in this country, but surely we can address this by redistributing the 99.3% we already have rather than stopping the .7% we are currently sharing.

With that said I will now take cover from the incoming abuse...

I don't think anyone is suggesting to stop payments totally - just be more selective with regards to the recipients i.e. China and India - both of whom are better off than the UK?

Okay, I take your point, and I can understand why you have mentioned China and India which both have experienced massive growth over the last few decades. However the UK is ranked 23 by the World Bank in terms of GDP per capita while China is 83rd and India is 124th which equates to a income per capita of > $50,000 for the UK and between $10,000 to $20,000 for China and $5,000 to $10,000 for India. Relatively the UK is still incredibly rich. You many not appreciate some of the riches, but state of the art defence and healthcare don't come cheap.

While I understand that some of the 0.7% is used in some pretty crazy ways, it is also used for infrastructure projects such as development cleaner energy technology.

There is probably more wealth tucked away in a London Bankers back pocket than in the 0.7%

Siggy I can only assume that you are one of the ones benefiting from the UK being"incredibly rich". I've worked hard all my life since leaving school and am now in my mid forties and I don't see much evidence of your above claim!
My brother is in the RAF and once you scrape through the bullsh~t fed to us by the government believe me there is not a lot that could be remotely described as 'state of the art'. For example the Typhoon 'eurofighter' was at least a decade out of date before even entering service!
As for 'state of the art' healthcare, well I'm not even going to go there!! I'm sure there's enough people who've had relatives who paid national insurance contributions all their lives, only to be left to die on a trolley in a hospital corridor that can take up that batton!!
Personally I'm afraid of the day when I need to rely on the NHS.
State of the art-do me a favour.

Rant over!

My sentiment exactly.

we are so rich we have to borrow money, any help we give on infrastructure should be awarded to UK firms paid directly by us to them that way cutting out the despots and middle men with all the associated back handers . And by the way we are giving aid to Argentina that managed to finance a war against us

In the UK it may not be as good as expected or as good as it once was but its better than most other countries. Would you rather be treated in a hospital in the Congo or go to war with the Pakistani army for support?
