My great grandad willie, he was called Jim but he used to take me everywhere with him when I was a wee nipper,( him and my granny Lena used to look after me and my sister whilst the rest of the family were working) so my grandad( his son ) nicknamed him wandering willie,
he died at 81 when I was 14, he taught me fishing, Irish folk songs and not to drink whiskey lol lol, and we used to eat steak and kidney puddings out of the foil with a tea spoon when he had a win at the bookies lol,
he used to shoot doodle bugs out of the sky in the 2nd world war, my grandad who is 80 this year carries on the same traditions( same tales , same daft stories etc etc)
yel I agree. Unless you actually watch those programmes that Tyson is in most people will
automatically have unsurpassable negative feelings towards him. Like I said rightly or wrongly he truly is a remarkable case.
+1 And my Keeper Grandfather, I didn't have time to abstract all of his knowledge. He was an incredible naturalist as well as a hard line keeper "If it ain't a songbird, game or a white owl it dies" but he knew every flower, tree, bird or beast with just a quick glance. Unfortunately he died when I was 14,he was at Spion Kop in the Boer war and also on the Somme, wounded but carried on keepering in 1918 and worked for the same family all his working life.
What would I give to have a wee bit of time with my mum and tell her all the things I wish I had said more often when she was with us and let her know that we're all fine. Going now starting to swallow hard............
If I could get him to sup a few pints, maybe he'd chillax a bit, let his hair down, play some darts, bit of pool, get his end away with the local bike, and maybe it would filter down to his disciples. Then, maybe peace would rein in the world.

Don't think there's any reason to lock this thread. Some very interesting entries really, which it's been my pleasure to read for the most part. I expect eventually it'll fall into disuse and drift to the back of things, but in the meantime, quite illuminating.
