I've just been discharged from an unexpected and worrying stay in hospital - I' am not going to go into detail as to why I was rushed in, it should be sufficient to say that I am OK now but it has meant some hard thinking about changes in my lifestyle and the fact that I might have to give up shooting!
Anyway, the thing that really surprised me and has bought about this "Rant" was the fact while I was in hospital and bored stiff (Especially while on the Acute Care Ward) I was bored stiff so I decided to pay for one of the "bundles" so that I could use the hospital TV, Radio, Telephone and Internet on the bed side TV! All was well (I had forgotten how boring Morning TV was till I tried watching it) till I decided to log on to the Internet to pass some time away. First I tried logging on to the Poker Site that I use regularly (Just for "Fun Chips", I never could afford to or was silly enough to gamble for cash) only to find that the connection was too slow to allow me to log on. OK I thought, lets log on to The Stalking Directory and see who is on and what's new there! I could not believe my eyes when I typed in the URL (wwwlthestalkingdirectory.co.uk) a notice came up saying "This site is deemed as unsuitable for you to view"!
The next time I called to top up my subscription to the viewing package and they asked if I wanted Internet Viewing added on to my account they caught it "both barrels" with me asking them what right they had to tell a grown man who was no doubt old enough to be that "telephone assistant's" father what he could or could not watch on the internet, I could understand it if I had been trying to watch some sleezey porn site (The would really have done my blood pressure a power of good and fooled the nurses who were taking it every hour) but The Stalking Directory, what a damned cheek! She apologised but said that the site was no doubt (Judging by the name of the site) had sort of Blood Sporting Contents and Followers and as such they did not agree with it. I told her that it was about the understanding of wildlife and especially countryside and deer management and that the ruling that it was not suitable for viewing was no doubt made up by some idiots sitting in a posh office who had never been for a walk in the country and would never have be able to tell the difference between a budgie and an eagle and no doubt had no idea what "The Stalking Directory" was all about and that they were a bunch of Beurocratical(sp) Idiots who were no doubt all friends of Bill Oddie, Chris Packham and Brian May etc - She got a little confused here and asked who Bill Oddie, Chris Packham and Brian May were, (poor girl, after all it wasn't her fault and she had not made up the rules) so I just told her that they were a bunch of "Goody Goody Poofter Type Trouble Makers who should be shot at dawn" and left it at that
My rant did not get me anywhere and most certainly did my blood pressure no good what so ever but it left me feeling better for having a good old rant about it and standing up for The Stalking Directory!
Anyway, that's it, rant over. If any of you are unfortunate to find yourself in hospital don't expect to be able to log on to The Stalking Directory over the Hospital Internet Connection cos it aint going to happen I'm afraid!
P.s. Its good to be back home again and "sort of" on my feet again and where I can talk to like minded friends on The Stalking Directory!
