165 grain Sierra game King for African plains game?

The HPBT GK is tougher than the 165-gr SPBT. They both shoot to the same place with the same load. So you have a bullet for soft skinned antelope and one for the big stuff, like Oryx and eland. Barnes 165-gr TSX, Nosler Accubond and Swift Scirocco offer flat trajectory and even higher weight retention, if you are worried about that. But the GK has killed a train load of big game.

I've never contemplated the hollow points, I'll try and get some and see how they fair.
I'm also loading 180 grain for 300 win mag

i used to shoot for the biltong trade and i used RWS h mantel ot the american copy the nosler partition

Well that sounds thoroughly humane.
IT was very humane. clean kill every time. there has properly been more African game taken with this round or the other popular size was British 303 fmj. and for that matter there has been more deer shot in Britain with 303 fmj by the old forestry boys as that was all they had. also humane.

Just because it's been done a lot doesn't make it right now does it. Hemingway took a rhino at 300 yards with an open sight 30-06 and 220gr fmj and I don't think anyone here would consider that a suitable way to take that particular game.
For the games sake I'm glad it worked for you but, for hunting, I'll stick with hunting bullets thanks.

HI Greener Jim no argument on my side.:( i was only saying that this was how it was (IS) done when hunting expanding ammo was not available.
with full respect to the animal at all times giving.
all of the above rounds were designed to kill after all.

Why fool around? Go with a 180 gr. Nosler Partition. Too much money invested in a trip like that to not step up to the NP. Stein bok to Eland.
