UPDATE: TVP FAC/SGC Renewals

Not sure on if target rifle applications in Thames Valley are any quicker than other applications as its all run out of the same office in Kidlington wouldn't have thought so.

But you may find your stay here is short if you don't post an introduction as per the site rules, admin are a bit keen on people saying hello before posting.

PS it's Thames not Themes!
Is that in themes on a 'G' STRING?

BC.

My application went in mid August, had my visit start of Feb. Another chap I know in TVP had another 2.5 months wait after his interview before his ticket arrived. So I'd say 8 months or so is still about the going rate here atm.

Interesting, did you do much followup or pestering to get your interview or was it just a waiting game?

Emailed after about 6 weeks, then a few months, then left it as booked some courses and stuff that I wanted to get done before my visit if poss. Was expecting to here from them around Feb based on other chaps timings, wasnt far out.

1:1 Variation is in the post today, complete with cheque which in hindsight I didn't need, but the original app was to chop and change a couple of calibres and I forgot to take it out of the envelope. Doh!

As it's in there though, let's see how long it takes for them to either:
1. Cash the cheque
or
2. Return it

Either action will show how much they understand of their own paperwork!

Updates to follow...

Check out the Shooting Show -27-02-2017- on You Tube. TVP have apparently called in BASC to help get the time down to 60 working days, to give shooters the 'service they pay for and deserve'. 60 days still too long but, what the heck it's a hell of a lot better than it is now. How many other constabularies will follow suit? Well done BASC.

Yeah I saw the press release. They want to have it down to 60 days by July. Will be interesting to see if this happens and if it will make a difference to my application which is now in it's 5th week.

So a quick update for everyone, now on week 5 and my firearms officer called to arrange a visit next week. Not sure if the background checks have already been done or not but that is much quicker then everyone predicted.

My grant went in early August last year, I got my call week before Xmas to arrange visit - so you've done well so far!

Certainly seems like it. Havs you got your cert now then? I'm wondering how long the wait is from visit to the cert arriving?

Not sure if anyone else received the BASC magazine today but there is an interesting article with regards to constabularies timelines for various firearm related issues.

Suffolk and Leicestershire seem to be the best 2 in the country.

Some of them beggar belief. Delays of over a fifth of the life of a certificate!! If the same police areas took as long to get certain offences to court, the statute of limitations would mean they couldn't be prosecuted.

my Sussex 141 took less than a week from posting to land on my mat.

Suffolk are amazing.

Original FAC Application - 19 days from hand delivering application to it being through my letterbox.
Variation - Less than a week.

Renewal due next year so will see how that goes.

coterminous renewal a few months ago took suffolk 9 days!
they seem to have really got their act together recently.

Just had my visit for my FAC application 5 weeks after submitting it. All straight forward and I have been told that grants for Thames Valley have improved dramatically. It can be between 8-12 weeks for the licence to arrive with me. If it arrives within 8 weeks that will be 13 weeks total. A lot better then 52 weeks like others have had.

This is excellent and a huge improvement. Thames Valley took, I think, about 10 1/2 months from banking the cheque to issuing my licence

The time to interview is a huge improvement but the time to actually issue the ticket after interview (only based on a few others' experience I'm aware of I admit) in recent times of about 8 weeks is no improvement or actually worse...??
