I friend of mine builds integrally suppressed barrels for the Ruger 10/22, but now Ruger has brought out its own in a matte / synthetic. I figure it must be aimed at the UK and European markets. Have any you seen or tried one?

It is, however considering that the American minimum barrel length is 16" (without an SBR tax ramp) I would presume that the moderator tube is fixed and takes the 'barrel' to 16", thus making it legal there and here.

I wouldn't be certain about that. The demand for suppressors here in the US is immense. I have been waiting for my paperwork to clear for my ONE suppressor for over 8 months now and I'm told it will be another 4 months with all the FBI/BATF backlogs. ~Muir

My friend builds a replacement barrel which looks like a bull barrel and fits into that 10/22 stock.
He also makes an integrally suppressed barrel /receiver assembly for the Ruger .22 pistols.
This new Ruger may still be $200 or $300 over that barrel replacement option, but it does look to be well thought out.

Ruger don't specially build anything "for the UK market" or most likely the European one either.

Viking Arms long ago told me that as UK sales were a fraction of 1% of US sales and European sales not much more.

Which is why things like the Ruger 77/357 and the 77/44 are no longer made in wood and blued steel as the US market wanted only black plastic and stainless.

I have a Ruger Takedown 10/22 that this barrel would fit on but I'm guessing that if the Defense of Hearing Act passes, there will be dozens of aftermarket competitors to Ruger. This unit with the filing fees and taxes is about $1000. This is what I paid for a quality 30 caliber can. (That can be used on 22LR with the proper adapter) ~Muir

They actually have built M77s for the European market. For example, they shipped the action and stock to Belgium, where they were fitted with 7x64 and 9.3x62 barrels and sights. That is where I got the 7x64 barrel which I put on an M77 donor rifle.

Muir,
There already are several builders of integrally suppressed barrels for the Ruger 10/22, in a wide range of prices.
While this new one from Ruger looks like a thoughtful design, I like the look of a bull barrel in a laminated stock, which also draws no attention.

Yes Ruger have built specifically for the U.K. and European markets at different times in the past.
I am thinking of the straight pull mini 14 and the extra long barrelled Redhawk long barrelled revolvers for the U.K. The mini 14 in .222rem used to be available from Kettner in Germany at one time. Perhaps they were all special order?
