DI links to BASC and a seminar in USK

Hello everyone - I need a bit of help here.
BASC has sent me an e-mail (I am a member) advising of a seminar in USK-so I thought I would check on The DI. It appears that Alan John Thornely is a director - see links.
Also whilst looking at stuff generally, I understand, but could be wrong, that Philippa Mary Bursey was the secretary and finance director at BASC and left (resigned) as part of the Stephen Ali 'incident'. She was a director at BASC and is now a director at the DI. If this is correct how can a person so entangled with the problems at BASC turn up at a BASC wholly owned company ? (Charity). The address of the DI is interesting. In its best year it apparently turned over £600K ish.
The references to Alan John Thornley OBE appear to show a complaint to the Derbyshire Constabulary which was not upheld and a potential conviction for affray. I could be wrong but the same reference mentions 'fraud' but there does not appear to be any substantiation of this label.
If any of these apparent allegations are true how is M Thornley OBE Vice Chair at BASC and how is Philippa Mary Bursey still linked to BASC through the DI ?
I could be wrong but do read and let me know if your thoughts if you find any truth in this.

Look under the people drop menu - you will find Mr Thonley and C Graffius - current acting CE - BASC

The new WALES Director BASC was previously at the deer initiative - one wonders at the interview questions since the acting chief executive at BASC is also a director of DI-------

The UK's largest shooting association, the British Association for Shooting and Conservation, has appointed a new director for Wales.
Steven Griffiths, who was previously projects manager & deer liaison officer Wales at the Deer Initiative, was first introduced to shooting aged 10.

After leaving school he went on to Llysfasi Agricultural College and put his new skills to good use on the family farm.
He also spent 17 years working for the National Trust in countryside management.

Your obsession with BASC is worrying Kes. Have you nothing better to do with your life? If the answer is "No" then that is even more worrying and very sad. Why not do something novel like go stalking perhaps? I could go on but I'm not going to as I'm sure you get the hint.

With the greatest respect, you do what you think is right and I will do what I think is right. My 'obsession' with BASC, as you call it is merely a wish to see fair play. As with this issue and many others I have been involved with, honesty and integrity are my interests. You obviously read none of what I posted so I suggest you keep your somewhat ill informed opinions to yourself - or maybe read it?

Hi Kes

At the risk of stating what to the on-looker is obvious he does have a point albeit that is not suggest you are alone as an SD member with a well intentioned or otherwise agenda!

Be it the likes of myself with a hatred of sporting rifles with aesthetically disturbing scope rails; members given of a confused state of mind in the matter of the kit they actually want, or more recently machine gun-like posts from an admittedly overly hot part of the globe, the last to see these painful truths is enveriably the impassioned protaginist.

All another long-winded attempt to say don't be too disappointed when you fail to solicite the same sence of urgency, outrage and unquestioning support for your view point by the oft' fickle but no less astute SD readership.

K

Since this is apparently not of any interest - who is in charge of our shooting organisations - can it be expunged please mods.
This is the last post of mine for some time.

I'm following this with interest, and I'm surprised at those taking the trouble to post negative comments, rather than skipping on by.

Maybe I have an agenda???:???:

In the interests of fair play, I'll dare to venture that Kes has a very fair point. What is the old saying? All that it takes for evil to thrive is for good men to do nothing. In this case, "evil" can be replaced with "corruption". The antics and subsequent soft marketing politics of the BASC have earned them the loss of many memberships over the past 18 mnths, including my own, so this all comes as no surprise to me. I am interested in the outcome...if there is to be one?

BASC as we know it is BASC Ltd, so who are BASC Direct Ltd at the same address and who have all the money/assets listed under this company name, as well as Mr Thornley listed as a Director

Ian.

Kes has noticed something that seems 'odd' and has asked people for their opinion - it happens all the time on this forum from things like 'what is this car part' to 'do I have to pay for a medical certificate?'

It seems fair enough to me; if everything is above board, and there is a simple explanation, then I am sure Kes will be satisfied, and that will be the end of the matter.

Kes is indeed entitled to say whatever he states is honest and truthful. I for one applaud freedom of speech. Leave him alone!. If you do not agree with him say so, and state why not, and of course I defend your absolute right to say so

Well done Kes

Patrick
