Isuzu Rodeo Denver 3 l any good ?

Hi, I’m thinking of possibly buying one of these, has anyone ever owned one ?
Ive always had Toyota pickups and presently have a landcruser but it doesn’t have enough space in it for the work I’m doing now. Problem is that another hilux is not an option for me as they just hold their value too much and everything I’ve seen in my price bracket ( £7k) is rusty and crap or has quarter of a million miles on the dial !
Many thoughts would be appreciated.

kinest regards, Olaf

Hi Olaf, I chopped in a SWB shogun for the Denver le(2011), my dad has recently bought a hilux (2014). I saved about 3/4k on a similar state hilux to the Isuzu. So far I can’t fault it, I have general grabbers on and get a return of 27-29MPG but this doesn’t bother me as it’s not a car! The le has leather trim which is a nice interior and all feels solid. Slightly lower and slightly smaller all round than a hilux but still plenty of room for passengers in the back on runs. The 3 litre engine pulls nicely too no problems towing. Like the electronic shift between 2h-4h-4l which can be done on the move (high range) any more questions let me know

Had 3.
First one was a Chevrolet/Isuzu ex demonstrator. Second one on a 2007 plate was from brand new. Ran it up to 90,000plus sold in part ex for 2012 plate 3ltr model just before they changed the shape to the newer model (more rounded off and no bonnet scoop) still got it now at 86,000 miles and not one problem on any of the three I have owned.

Even a second hand Isuzu Denver/rodeo is not cheap. Toyota are also very good, but a friend bought a second hand with 60,000 on it and had a lot of problems with the brakes.

I've inherited an '08 Denver Rodeo Max LE with the 2.5 litre engine. It too is wearing general Grabber tyres.
I get about 27mpg on short, local runs & over 30 on motorways & longer journeys.
It's a tad noisier than my Wildtrak at low speed but once it gets going I don't notice.
I'm probably going for another Isuzu next year or in 2020 & fancy the Huntsman...

interesting as inam lookingnat the D-Max and the Wildtrack. I am thinking the wildtract is better spec'd then the D-Max. this will be off road shooting platform but also want a bit more luxury than a utility. was toying with an artic T35 but its poorly specced and and I justndont have the need for such a big off road capable unit. Hiluntsman is cool but the gun box takes up a huge amount to room and I would go on3 box holding say 2 or 3 rifles tops set sode by side not flat.

I used to own a trooper but now a 2003 3ltr Rodeo the only thing I would replace it with is another Rodeo.
But mine only has 63000 mls on the clock not bad for being 15 years old.

The new Wildtrak is overweight & thus speed restricted on many roads - something Ford dealers forget to tell you.
I honestly think the new Isuzu's are better dual use vehicles, with their off-road ability much greater than the Ford offering & at the same time more economical to run.
I owned my 56 Wildtrak for 11 years from new & found it thirsty & not much use on mud, even with good tyres, rather than the "Transit Specials" it came equipped with.
Oh & the front crossmember completely rotted out after 8 years.

Thanks for all the helpful replies. After much research I decided that the Rodeo Denver that o was considering was a great truck but discovered, much to my dismay, that it was rather floored in one important area and that is that it had only received a one star euro ncap safety rating , it also received the same very poor safety rating from the Australian testing agency. The new Isuzu Dmax holds a very good safety rating though. So, I’ve reluctantly decided to hold off on replacing my Toyota and save up for another Hilux instead. Bottom line is that the landcruser i currently use is a fantastic vehicle in all ways other than the fact I need a bit more space for my work.
thanks once again for the replies.

kindest regards, Olaf
