BASC opposes new proposals for medical fees

Maybe one day before it is truly too late, we may get a test case won, this is the only route to the future of our sport , which organisation it may be through is,anybody's guess.

Much as I hope your right, I think you/we are dreaming, our sport has no future.
If we had a unified and respected voice on our side that may change, but we don't and never have had.

Neil.

There is another thread discussing the CA response to the HO/Police/BMA threats and blackmail which is significantly more of what we expect than BASC has achieved. We should all vote with our feet - simply because they are offering to back their 'red line' issues with legal action. At last an organisation has emerged to represent us with backbone.
I shall be joining. No more just 'paying wages' since, after years with BASC, they never did anything for me.

Still no confirmation of legal action from BASC.

It's only the fact that our club voted to be with BASC that I am in it. I may also join the CA as an individual. Where do you draw the line with these memberships. BASC, CLA, NRA, RAC....... How much insurance does someone need?

Personally I'd leave the club anything not to be " paying wages " at basc

be honest of it meant giving up fowling or paying into basc I'd give up yes

I feel sorry for you!

I lost faith in BASC when the name was changed to sound politically correct, and when their scientific 'expert' got up at a wildfowlng conference and said he found no difference between shooting lead shot and steel shot, as a prelude to throwing in the towel, that did it for me.

Feel sorry for me ??? Why mate ?

Well, we left BASC for the CA for a year, but most members wanted to go back to BASC. I don't go to the meetings now. Been taken over by half-hard townies with more money than sense, ring a bell?. That's democracy for you. Last season was my 56th below high water mark.

Sounds familiar..... congrats though that's some effort into fowling I wish I could find time to go still just stalking took over everything....

Anyone heard anything from BASC? I see nothing to indicate they have had their LEGAL ADVICE, or even asked for it. £millions in reserve and still no update. Scandalous IMHO.

Kes, how about phoning them up & asking a direct question?

Out yesterday and now we have the latest statement which, although welcome, says basically 'we are taking legal advice' 4 weeks by my reckoning from the first announcement of 'taking legal advice', with a bit of detail about QC's and barristers which many members, including myself supplied, quite a few weeks ago.

So I am pleased something is apparently happening but mystified as to how it has taken years to shake BASC out of its arrogant, self-destructive reverie.
Much, much more needed like this before I consider staying - like a 'lottery win' in shooting support.
I regretfully doubt BASC will change but I feel I (we) must in the only way I (we) can send any message effectively to BASC: - leave.

To be fair, taking legal advice and getting an answer are often a long way apart. I worked with and for lawyers for over thirty years and the only hurrying they did was when they had forgotten to ask for something to be done and they needed me to do it for use in court the next day. Delays may well be beyond the control of BASC.

David.
