Thankyou bluesako , is that a fairly easy process ? And Would that also mean I would have to have a slot for a 222 or 223 on my fac ?
I’d be surprised if you could safely achieve those figures.
Ken.
Morning Ken,
It was a friend of mine that quoted some figures some time go, I messaged him last night asking what he was getting out of his Ackley Hornet. I got it wrong it was 3660 I thought it was 3900.I've had 4900 out of my 17rem, was looking for the photo of the chrono reading but it's lost somehow. And yes over pressure and blown primer, that was with BLC2 and 3/4 of a grain less than max, but changed from rem brass to nosler custom. Hence the increase in pressure.
A few pics of mine, Sako S491, Sassen barrel, Stalon mod and 're blued by Midcounties blacking from Lichfield. .
I asked Steve Kershaw if he could do something for me and this is the end result
No you don't need the variations on your ticket, 17 Remington yes but not the other because your not going to posses them, the gun smith will if you know what I mean.Thankyou bluesako , is that a fairly easy process ? And Would that also mean I would have to have a slot for a 222 or 223 on my fac ?

4400fps (chronoed) with 20gn bullets. My go to fox load.
No blown primers, no enlarged primer pockets, no sticky extraction.

Looks very nice, jb1.
Steve does excellent work.
I’ve had several 17 Rems. over the years, starting with my first in (I think) 1972. It was probably the first one in the UK. I bought that one second hand from John Longstaff who used to have part of Fred Carrs iron mongers shop in Pudsey. Some here will remember John.
I’ve shot quite a lot of foxes with 17 Rems. since then and think it’s agreat fox calibre, however, I have had a couple of splashes when hitting a rib, and these required another shot.
Hornady HP were the bullets I prefered.
Cheers,Ken.

We were talking about a 17 Ackley Hornet.
Ken.
Sorry, thought the thread was about the 17 rem.
Thread protector?Yes it is but I threw in a curve ball and mentioned a 17 Ackley Hornet biting at the heels of the rem. I was wrong, I miss quoted figures.
And I've beat youby 500fps
