"Mark thread as sold" ?

Why not just delete the post?

Because the thread should stand in case there is a problem with the sale, and so others can get an idea of sensible pricing.
Also why should the OP have the right to delete answers or questions from others ?

I see it both ways, they both have plus and minus sides to it. In Classifieds the thread belongs to the person making the ad, therefore its down to him what he does with it. If someone is being dodgy or there is problem with the sale we can undelete the ad (so long as its not over a year or so!)

The worst thing is when nothing is written to say it has gone... no SOLD, no nothing!

It definitely shouldn't be possible to delete the post. Certain 'non Trade' members would love to be able to quickly delete the history of all of their 'personal' sales as soon as the item was sold wouldn't they?

Your welcome but imho site owner/admins view trumps that.

You can delete a tweet, Facebook or Instagram post. Delete an ad on Gumtree eBay or AutoTrader. I see no difference

I think that you should read my post Slider. A certain AW would love to be able to delete his posts.

well I have no idea who this "certain AW) is but I stand by my view that the posts "belong" to the originator of the thread, If there is an issue with a sale admin have already said they can trace the posts

Why all the obsession with deleting posts anyway. It wasn't done on the previous site. It also gives buyers and sellers a guide price which usually saves people putting their items on for unrealistic amounts with zero chance of selling them. How else will Mr White know what to charge after all?
