You all love to hate Chris Packham but don't forget there are sixty six and a half million people in the UK, shooting probably has about a quarter of a million supporters at the most, in the grand scheme of things our opinion doesn't matter much to anyone but ourselves. Sorry, but i'm just telling it the way it is.

I understand Packham's anti-animal-cruelty passion and consequent appeal to the masses. And I get it that the honours list is (often) more about acknowledging public sentiment than related to absolute merit. But...Packham has been alleged to lie to achieve outcomes and influence opinion. And has doubtless leveraged his public-funded broadcaster position to influence a wider sector of our society. So what I do not get is why the Queen would bestow honour on someone who is alleged to have used falsehood to further his personal agendas. What message does that send to the nation? Youth?

That's wholly unnecessary and frankly damn rude.
You talk of defeatism but omit any reference to the usefulness of knowing one's enemy which at my reading the poster has nailed. By all means refuse to accept there are elements within CP'S broad agenda that any person who cares about the environment and wildlife cannot fail to support but that won't help you or I defend the sport of stalking deer with a rifle or knocking a goose out of the sky on the foreshore.
If it weren't Chris Packham receiving this award it would be any one of a growing number of people prepared to commite their life to conservation which, as the poster also mentions, is very much in keeping with the mood of a population percentage that makes shooters look positively marginal.
That he's publicly admited stealing a kestrel from it's nest should give us all hope?

Gareth Southgate and Harry Cane ? ...£5million a year reaching the semi final ....and Harry (27) on around £150,000 A WEEK playing football ... have it right I don’t begrudge either a penny , if someone recons there worth the dollar fair play , but where does an honour come in , we never actually WON enything ..Honour for failure..
As he's so strongly opposed to the private ownership of the countryside, he ought to refuse to accept an honour from the Queen, who owns an awful lot of it.
