ATN X-Sight 4K Pro – SIMPLY FANTASTIC

My 4k worked well but the drone is just so much better.
Drone and Ian Sirrel led. Fox ignoring the call at 340 yards from kitchen window with .223.
Left arrow is the fox middle arrow new bait tree at 150 yds right arrow is old bait tree at 60yds (hmr).
It was dark of course :)
Previous longest shot 180 yards and most are shot at well under 100 but on occasion its nice to use the drone to confirm what you have picked up with the thermal.

Sensors are improving to the point where your phone, TV, DSLR camera and even cinema quality films are now digitally operated. Best german glass will soon be either equalled or superceded in short order, while units increase in functionality and decrease in size and weight.

Have you ever wondered what's being used in front of those sensors? Like in DSLR?

Yes. It would seam the moderated rifles will not activate it. Just got use to pressing the record button.

For some reason record doesn't record anything, got SD card but neither the record or photo button do anything..is any one else having problems?

Is the icon for the SD card the same colour as the battery and blue tooth icon, top right.
SD needs to be class 10 and I only use 16g as heard the 32 can cause problems

Hi

Yes I purchased a new 64gb class 10.
But the sd card icon is red not green
Bad card Simon. To big a gig, put a smaller class 10 in. I have one that's 32gb and it was ok a few times then stopped working. It's find in the game cameras, just not in the atn. I had a 16gb and it lights up green just fine. Just recoil recording still don't work.

A number of people have had problems with the 64gb card, even though atn says 4-64gb.
I gave up and since changing down size I have not had a problem.
There is a Facebook page, USA, but they have had longer and mostly sorted problems so might be worth a look

I have updated the firmware now in several hundred 4K's and nearly all were happy with the SANDISK Ultra 64GB, but about 5 wouldn't read it but where happy with other 64GB cards. Strangely the last delivery wouldn't read from any card until they were reformatted in the scope, despot the same cards having been used for months without an issue....

....weird

Yep a strange one. Formatted mine in the scope but still no good..16gb works well. Petty the auto video doesent work, plus doesn't seem to record when you switch on manually if the recoil activation is on.

Still smiling though

Drop the record FPS down Simon and see if that works. I know it has for some

Having had a look at a few recent threads on the forum I started some time ago, I just thought the following may be helpful to some. I’m not interested in conflicting debate, but simply giving my personal experience and opinions to those who may find it helpful..

On the charging and security aspect of the ATN 4K pro. I simply drilled a 20 mm hole in the bottom side corner of one of my cabinets, and put in a removable rubber blanking grommet,

I now simply thread the small end of the charging wire through this. This allows the rifle to be locked up and still on charge.

You could equally use a metal cable gland, reverse fit into the cabinet and put on this a screwed blank end if you wanted a permanent tamperproof entrance.

Since this I have also used a small cigar shaped and sized mobile phone power pack that was a free-be from Screw-Fix, this works perfect left in the cabinet, and if you can buy one of these for less tan £5. I now leave this in the pick-up as a back up. My experience of battery life in the ATN is fantastic it lasts for night upon night, there’s 18 hours worth of running time, and I switch off both my Ir and scope between shots.

I recently downloaded the recent software updates with no issues at all.

On the reliability front, if you purchase one of these ATN 4K scopes from “Optical Solutions”, from the owner of the company “Cliff” he, tests each and every one of them prior to dispatch. He simply rejects any faulty ones at distribution. This massively cuts down any risk of obtaining a defective unit. He’s also there on phone backup every day for any software help or advice.

I’m guessing in the end, you rather end up in a small minority with a bad one, or in the majority with a good one, and mine simply continues to be the best set up I’ve ever used for foxing. I use it on 8X magnification, with the ian Sirrell IR out to 400 years plus all day long, using it with either top end loaded 50 grain Vmax in 223, or 110 grain Vmax in 308 on windy nights.

When swapping between rifles, the one shot zeroing is simply fantastic. I now do it in nigh-time mode, inch high at 200 yards with two shots. It takes a couple of minutes.

Simply fantastic and it never moves and has always kept Zero perfectly.

I uses 30mm opti-locks and not the picatinny mount that came with the ATN scope.

Happy to hear this looks like I will be purchasing one in the near future.. the first one I ordered was cancelled by the gun shop (waiting list was a bit long)...... :thumb:

I've heard that Highland Outdoors is taking over the distribution of ATN equipment?

And putting the prices up
By £100 for the X Sight 4K Pro 5-20 model, making it approx £1050 now

By comparison, a PARD NV008 scope, with all the important stuff (like a really good built in IR illuminator) and none of the unnecessary bells and whistles that are on an X Sight, costs less than £600

Cheers

Bruce
