BASC _ PERSONAL LETTER TO LORD DEAR.

Kes, It might just be that long grass thing / stuff again.:norty:
Finn,
I just cant believe anyone would ignore a genuinely written letter and then ask you to contact the office when they know all the details. It is also true that more onerous requests have proved no problem.
There is still time for a reply but if none is received then it would be appropriate to draw certain conclusions.

oh, very droll - I am sure that HPotter had less than £9m ( ignoring the fees rise) I will send another copy when I find a different address.

Even more interesting when one looks at the 'people' tab - John Swift (ex basc ) Chair and current BASC people there. I dont know quite how to square that particular circle

So to be clear, Kes has written a letter to BASC expressing his dissatisfaction with the service and yet he is not a member????

To add to that he has requested the other members of the directory send him their dissatisfaction with BASC by PM, so sit can be included within his letter to an association he is not affiliated too?

I would say is that if you are a member of BASC call your region and express what you are not happy with, you may be pleasantly surprised with the answers you get..

As for Kes, are you saying you want to join if they do what you ask? or is this just an opportunity to moan about the past...

I believe kes is a member still , as I was for many years ,
As for telling basc that you’re dissatisfied , good luck with that , the only thing that will make them take notice is a drop in membership fees

I am not a member of BASC currently. I have been a member but largely because I had no choice who I was insured with. I asked for people comments and to see if I was in a minority of one and to represent their viewsas well but without attribution.
I am trying to change BASC for the better, for everyone who shoots. Since BASC is the self-proclaimed "voice of Shooting" but is wrong on many issues, has been badly managed in the past, has spent members money on problems which should not have occurred and still talks to the man who nearly ruined shooting, John Swift ex BASC CEO. No Judicial Review over 'misinterpretation of the Guidance over medicals, no feedback as to why - no updates on the Environment Wales issue.
I do think they can improve but lately it merely seems to get worse. Ignoring bad decisions, failing to pick-up on current failings leads to a continuing poor service - Haven't you noticed?

Membership is increasing not decreasing though ? surly they are doing something right?

No just people are ignorant and misinformed
The game shot who shoots a few days a year ( whom I suspect are the vast majority of members ) in all probability doesn’t have a clue

Ok, so you are not a member, and you have asked this forum to see if you are alone in your views.,, how many responses did you get out of interest?

You cannot and will not change anything by sitting on a forum expressing your dissatisfaction. If you want to change things within BASC join become a member or apply to become council or go for a Job.

To my mind its clear you are unhappy with the management of BASC and decision that were made in the past, are you aware of what work they are undertaking and what positive things they have done? do you consider where we may have been had they not been there to do them?

And still talks to the man who nearly ruined shooting? I honestly find this statement strange, how did he nearly ruin shooting? when in your words all he was was the CEO of a self proclaimed voice of shooting?

I think they are doing better than ever, membership is rising.. yes there are things that we all want to see answered, medicals, wales review and so on and my understanding is that they are being worked on.. and we will se the results in the coming months..

I believe BASC are the best people doing the best for our sport, you are entitled to disagree and no doubt you will, But I assure you if you believe that an organisation is going to listen to a non member telling them how they are not managing an organisation correctly ...

Good luck with making BASC better by criticism ... that always works......

Quite a sweeping statement ... how are you so well informed then ?

I pay attention and don’t believe everything an org tells me, I think it’s very naive to think that just because they have more members they’re furthering shootings best interests, the two are not mutually exclusive , as I’ve said before it says tetleys on buses but you can’t get a pint of beer or a cup of tea !

My point is that they are doing good things, provide good insurance packages, training and events.. thats why numbers are increasing..

Training and events are lovely , but what’s the point in them when our shooting is slowly being eroded bit by bit with no challenge ? I’m sure your training will be invaluable when all you can own is an air gun ....
