BASC responds to revocation of general licences

Natural England have bottled it.
It's only a legal challenge, so the prorata continues up until and after the ruling.
Then and only then should NE make a decision should they lose.
Even so, there will be a time limit for when / if the licence situation changes.
As far I see it they have caved in to a half assed challenge to a piece of legislation.
I'm astounded that the BASC has not filed a counter claim to this legislation change. After all packham and co had to crowdfund the 30k needed for the legal challenge.
I'm sure the BASC has a very large slush fund and barristers on tap who are willing to take this on.
I admire your misplaced optimism

packham and his cohorts may all be wearing smug grins at the moment, but in reality they have just scored a huge own goal, with no corvid control at this time of year the damage to songbird nests will be massive, numbers have declined hugely over the last few decades and that decline will now be accelerated, Packham and co have no thought about the consequences of what they have done, all they want is to stick it up the shooting community, at whatever cost it seems
Mike

BASC's epitaph will be too little too late - not enough thought or moral fibre. Does anyone think this is what they pay for ?
Nice to see SACS righteously indignant and using the right language. Still no update from BASC on the equally outrageous decision by Natural Environment (Wales) about shooting/rearing on NE (Wales) land.
I wonder what changed on the General Licence to allow a judicial review (30 days to challenge) maybe BASC should ask CP's advice, (perish the thought, they might listen, like lead).

I think that sub human scum packam will have made a lot of enemies
Look over your shoulder packam you might sell have ****ed a lot of people off

That’s more like it! :thumb:

Ur right it is a better statement, but also completely pointless, why would a purely Scottish org have any say/communication with EN.
About as relevant as me releasing a press release from my kitchen.

The 1 major thing that really concerns me about Basic ( and other orgs) is they sound completely shocked by this. As they were with the NRW decision to ban shooting on there land in Wales and the shambolic way they handled the whole LAG faisco
I try to give them the benefit of doubt, but every bloody time they dont seem to have a bloody clue.
Ud think all the money time they claim to be snoozing MPs civil servants etc and they still haven't a clue when things like this happen.

Make no mistake this is a complete disaster for any wild bird shoot and conservation in general..
This could very easily wipe out this year's grouse shooting, by the time licences are handed out this year's surplus chicks could off been predated, not good after the disastrous season most Moore had last year

The first legal case was January 1st. Why haven't BASC picked up on this and worked against it from the beginning? Is that not what people pay membership for?

So much for being at the centre of politics, having a seat at the highest tables, taking the political route over medicals.
I very much resent these bland statements by BASC DEBBIE, in an apparent attempt to seem to be doing something.
Seriously, can we ban BASC news messages from debbie as they are simply marketing, with no answers given after the'NEWS'. Anyone can e-mail BASC news and find out - should they be inclined.
I am really seriously beginning to object to having this rubbish rammed down my favourite site !!!

Ok I'll stop reading anything with BASCDebbie in the title too.

Yup, only toffs go shooting, don't you know? In reality, this is Packham's personal class war.
Definitely an own goal, as the "toffs" birds (ie, game) aren't covered by this legislation anyway. He's just clobbered the ordinary folk, and they're not going to thank him for it.

Must admit I'm the same as u kes, just adding insult to injury such pathetic statements from basic. ( And I'm usually a supporter or at least sticking up for them In these threads, getting harder and harder to do)

Really can see this being a defining moment for basc, wot scares me even more is the other orgs are just as bloody useless if not worse

Does leave you feeling that the antis are constantly probing , searching for some small chink. Whereas our representatives sip tea at game fairs asking for more money.
Not worth your or my trouble.
I respect your view but I was where you now are, maybe 5 years ago.
I want them to do do better but, as the old saying goes - thought, 'saw a muck cart and thought it was a wedding'.

I despair with BASC Packham - 30K of other peoples money, BASC a minimum of £9m of focussed member subscriptions - there can be no 'will' there - the 'means' are obvious.

The means are obvious and I am sure many shooters would also be happy to chip in. If some poxy group can raise £30 odd k to cause this havok then our organisation should be able to shout louder and clearer. Where is the will.

I think the way things appear to be going for BASC 'the voice of shooting' then 'Debbie' and others might be looking for other employment.
Membership must surely be taking a nose dive, even more so after this decision.
They need to take heed of forums like this and pull their fingers out of their backsides and start actively opposing this.
This is so frustrating!
Tip of the ice berg!
Cheers
Richard

Because they have members south of the wall as well? Some of us are even at the other end of the country.
