How’do!
.308 bought and winging its way northwards so happy days! Many thanks to those who offered advice and insight!

This leaves me (for now!) to find something to fill the .22 space on my FAC. Don’t really have a large budget left - ideally somewhere around the 300 mark inc a scope and MOD. I’ve found a couple that fit my requirements (I think!) and just really wanted some opinions as to what differentiates them - 2 are essentially the same but have different scopes so part of the question is, particularly when you’re looking at used, what makes a good or the better scope?

Last question - what’s the difference between a CZ 452 2E-ZKM and a CZ American?

Links to adds I’ve looked at:

They’re the two that are almost identical (really at the thick end of my budget but the same dealer has a shotgun I have my eye on so hoping to do some arm wrestling  )

Then an older more “used” used model - but obviously a lump cheaper

And finally an American - not much detail in the advert but they’ve emailed me a pic and told me the scope is a Tasco 4-18x50. (Pic shown below)

I’m sure you’ll notice a theme - but if not - any suggestions aside of these links have to be left handed too ;)

Cheers!!

Barrel length, basically. The American has a 26" barrel, threaded 1/2 UNF, and t'other has an 18" barrel, I think? Both fine rifles, and the scopes on either will be just fine, to my mind.

My own .22 is a 452 Silhouette. Basically an American with a shorter barrel, and a synthetic stock with a raised comb. Obviously, because I have one it's the finest rifle ever built (), but if you can find one of those you won't regret it :thumb:

The ZKM version is a military trainer. Actions are the same, but the barrel is longer and it had factory iron sights

To throw a curve ball some real bargain anschultz rifles out there as well. A little older but timeless quality.
I’d never thought about Anschultz to be fair - aside of an air gun in my mate’s back garden, my shooting story began as a teenager with the Cadets - we had some Anschultz rifles but they were reserved for the shooting team and, back then at least, I had no interest in “sport” target shooting so never got to fire one. I think that’s left me with some odd memory related bias ha ha

They are fantastic rifles, quality at a good price, Cluny country sports has a lovely full set up in shop for comparative pennies.

Interesting!! Just been trying to look on their website but can’t see it - actually “down south” visiting family for the weekend (always seems odd calling the North East “south” but I’m trying to be a good Adopted Scot ;)
Will have to give them a ring and maybe take a very weird detour home and hope the wife doesn’t notice why we aren’t going the proper way
