3006 powder

Hey guys looking for a bit of advise

I have been doing some research and bending some friends ears and thinking of reloading on my 3006

I read loads and thought h4350 would be great for the Sierra 165g btsp I choose

Then read it was not longer available !! So now thinking n160

Also thinking cci 200 primers

Just seeing what’s people’s thoughts are ?

I've just been through almost the exact same thing with my .30-06. I'm moving all my calibres over to Viht so working up my loads all over again.

I'm using a 168gr Sierra TMK and charged it with N140. I'm not saying this the optimum powder for .30-06 as some might argue it's a little fast, but the Vihtavouri website list a load for that bullet with that powder so it's fine to use.

I got a really sweet shooting round almost bang on mid-limit of their given powder charge.

Check out the website, N160 is used quite a lot in their .30-06 data.

I'm using vihtavuori and 165 grain bullets. Works well

When I had a 30-06 I used Viht. N160 with 165 grain bullets. CCI standard primers. Excellent load, very consistent.

switched to N160 from IMR4350, seems to work well in my Schultz & Larsen using 165 & 180gn bullets (Sierra BTSP and RWS Hmantel). Federal 210 primers for me but that's more habit and availability than design.

H 4895 would be the traditional powder for use in your caliber.

I use N140 and N160 depending on 150grain(N140) or 180grain(N160) bullets, N160 is specified in the Hornady manual for 165grain bullets

I reloaded for a friend's R8 in 30-06 using RL15 behind a 180 gr Accubond and Fed match primers. The powder weight I settled on was boringly repeatable

I use n165 in mine with cci200s. Works fine And that's a really slow powder
