I don't shoot this farm for deer much as surprisingly there are very few, the condition's are good but on my foxing trips only some big Fallow Bucks turn up dark o'clock.
I did manage a Fallow buck 2 years ago from the same ride also taken Paul 'O out a couple of times where we bumped a buck but no shot.
The owners birds came the same time as mine which is how I got to meet him on driven days we were both invited on.
I set my home made single seat up some time back which coves a natural ride around 100 yards in front, being a free standing seat the foot print is good but I had to dig it in, that lost a little rail height so I set up for the shot a few times just to remind me of what I needed to do.
This payed off when the Buck burst out of cover as they some times do the muscle memory payed off, having shot a good number of these (never still ) deer the 100 yard neck shot would have been first choice, however my OI pulled him up but the head was not still enough, a horrible angle for behind the shoulder so front chest with it coming out behind the n/s f leg.
Clean out was good with the liver for my neighbour, I had cut the heart in half for the dogs but Toby was on the tailgate in a flash and swiped both bits....so Chip had the kidneys...lol
