(Another!) pick of the collective brain..... aka... spot the scope

How’do!

Ok - a two parter - Q2 should possibly be in another section but I’m working on the fact that some wise old soul will see it in here! Anyways..... onwards!

Hoping someone can help me out here. Just taken ownership of a canny little used CZ 452 in .22LR including scope, MOD, sling and even a decent slip - happy days. The scope has an illuminated red or green dot but currently doesn’t have a battery/batteries. Rather than just guess I’d rather know what’s meant to be in it - ie find a user manual online etc. However, unless I’m just totally missing something there’s no brand name printed on it - I’ve tried searching myself online and there’s a few similar looking alternative.

So - it has the following printed on it:

“3-9X50 Illuminated Etched Mil-Dot AO”

and under the turrets I’m assuming a serial number:

“07-030463 Made in China”

Q2 the rifle has an iron foresight - it isn’t really in the way just possibly make it look a little odd especially with the MOD on. What would be involved in getting it removed? Is it the sort of thing I’d need a gunsmith for?

Pics attached!

Thanks, as ever, in advance for borrowing the collective wisdom!!

q,1,=CR2032 3v lithium button
q,2, =if it's held on with two small screws, just undo them with a proper tool, not a cheap screwdriver from poundland.
or if it appears to be brazed or soldered then its a job for the gunsmith,
personally if the latter I would get the gunsmith to drill and tap the barrel so you can add or remove to suit.

Cheers - appreciated as ever! I’ll grab one tomorrow - just wanted to know I wasn’t putting the wrong type in and doing any damage.

The foresight blade cover is just a little screw but the main body of it appears one with the barrel. Would you think that’s an expensive job?

you'd need to ask your gunsmith that question, and decide if its worth it to you.

Just thought it looked a little odd! Maybe just me!! To be fair, having no experience of asking a gunsmith to do anything, that was probably where my question was going - if it was a cheap little job then fine but if it would be an expensive more involved task then just live with it as it is. Rifle wasn’t a fortune so certainly wouldn’t be going daft :)

I have an old brno(cz) with the same foresight. Over the years I had a stainless cz then a 17hmr with no foresight. When I finished keepering I went and got another old 22. It shoots sweet and the foresight is never an issue in the scope even when lamping so I left it. Now, if I'm honest I kinda like it. Adds character to the old gun. Just my two penneth

On mine I just removed the fore sight blade and cover and left the main body on. Occasionally I would take the scope of re install the iron sights and have an afternoon at paper targets. Great fun

I would have fancied that - except there isn’t a rear iron sight. That was all part of my thought process.

Looks like you've still got the mounting for the rearsight blade? Mine was the same. Managed to pick up the rest of the bits FOC off here. Quite good fun to take the scope off and enjoy a bit of "traditional" shooting from time to time.

Yeah - that’s still there - just no actual sight. I learned to shoot with a No 8 with iron sights as a teenager (a year or so ago.......!) Wouldn’t be a bad shout at all if reasonable to get hold of a rear sight.

See - this is why I like asking stuff on here - there’s always plenty you never thought of!

As they say..... every day’s a school day!!
