Thank you for your latest instalment of empty sky thinking.

By definition, a Labour government would have the majority, and the mandate, to wreak the havoc that's in their manifesto. Even that idiot beardy puppet knows that.

The Conservatives don't have any desire to screw over workers' rights, and workers' rights in the UK did not derive from EU legislation. It's a complete red herring. Conservative policy on workers differs from that of the EU, and Labour, in one important regard - they are in favour of having many more workers and far less unemployment than the EU average.

Anyone who has studied political history will immediately know that you haven't.

The only explanation for someone not to be scared of a Labour government now is that they're too stupid to understand the consequences.

He hasn't studied the firearm laws either :-|

I'm always surprised that people "worry" about any party gaining power. Does everyone not understand by now that it is all completely irrelevant?
Surely Brexit shows that the will of the people and any kind of vote/referendum/election is pointless?
They will do what they want. Whoever "they" may be. It does not matter one bit who "they are, we are all screwed anyway. It's all a show.
The rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

I'm going to work, play, shoot and carry on doing what I have to regardless of the show.
Nothing will change for me whether we are in league with another bunch of European beaurocrats or not. Nothing will change for anyone. Will there be more jobs? Higher wages? Better services? If there are then how do jobs appear? How do you get paid more? How are services improved?
Jobs are created by manufacturing or providing a service, who wants or needs that? Who will pay for that?
If you are paid more then where will it come from? Who will pay you more and not want more for it? If we are "not in europe" will we all pay more for things that are not imported? No. Nothing will change. If a tariff is put on to things that come to us from Europe then one will go the other way. Will we be shunned by the rest of the world and not be able to trade with them? No. Nothing will change.
Will services improve because we are not giving the eu £350m....? No. Money flows in and out. Politicians work for the rich, not the people. It's all a show and means nothing.
Your votes mean nothing. Prove once again by the Brexit debacle.

Edd

Excellent mate and my thoughts to the letter .

I have to admit , the political situation in the UK is horrendous . It actually was the topic of conversation in hunting camp last week . A SD member was out here hunting with us and , as always , politics came up . The general opinion was , ours politics are a mess , yours is ten levels worse .

AB

Definitely!! When you have a terrorist supporter as opposition leader. How much worse can it get.

"Bingo, we have another winner" :thumb:

How about if 100% of the population in disgust did not vote, what would happen?

Not voting isn't an expression of disgust, it's an expression of complicity. If you can't be arsed to vote against those you wish to see the end of, then you won't see the end of them.

A good dose of cynicism about politicians is both appropriate and constructive. However, in reply to several comments above by those who variously will never vote again, or for whom voting is pointless because nothing ever changes and assorted other platitudes - several of which are demonstrably false - about snouts in troughs and power:
1. Failing to vote is not a protest, it's apathy. It's a message to even the most extreme candidates that whatever they want to do is ok with you.
2. If you don't like the political situation, you have to vote for the least bad option. Recently, I have been holding my nose when voting because to varying degrees the parties' have crappy policies and turds for MPs. No vote = no objection to the worst of them.
3. At least make an effort to separate the unpleasant truths from the outright lies. The poor are not getting poorer, they're getting richer faster than the rich are. It does matter to everybody which party gets elected. Some people may want to put their heads in the sand, but the effects of government have a profound impact on everybody, and anyone who thinks otherwise is being deliberately ignorant of that.

with Brexit in mind, that last comment is absolutely hilarious

We have had many labour governments not one of which I voted for, and none of which made the sky fall in.

Personally I have been a study of politics, sociology and related psychology for 3+ decades and I dabble with economics (but struggle to get as interested as I am in politics). I don't have a degree in the subject (I was prevented from going to uni by dyslexia) but I am what you would call, well read

I am far from alone in my view that the Cons plan to cut workers rights

workers' rights in the UK did not derive from EU legislation

Errrrr, yes they did in their current format

Yep i,m afraid if you dont vote then you could let the one,s you despise the most in by default. If you want Brexit voted through properly you need a party with a decisive majority not this potmess of self serving slime we have now.Do you want another 5 years of nothing with a hung parliament or a landslide to stick to fingers up to the marxist and his scottish communist and lib dumb friends .
The Brexit party led to a referendum but the liars have blocked it ,time to vote them out .If you voted out but your mp refused to back brexit it,s time for bye bye off to the dole with you imho.
No theyre not in it for us but its a choice of bad verus omg what have we done

All the young votes thinking of voting Labour in need to be reminded that if Labour were in long term the kids inheritance will be either spent by the parents or taken by the Socialist state
They also need to remember their parents wealth was created by stealing their own opportunities. Restricting house building through nimby attitudes, the sale of council housing, the payment of unfunded pensions and the rape of the environment that we all depend on.
Sod the kids is what I say I have two of my own they can make their own wealth and exploit their own just as I have done.

We talk about rich and poor. The whole thing is relative and the whole population wants more disposable income.
If they had the same as me in my youth they would place more emphasis on food etc.
Realistically there are not many poor people in Britain now when compared with more than half the countries in the world. How many starved to death last year compared with deaths from disease, car accidents, alcohol etc. You are only poor when you have no disposable income, most of those I have seen on benefits seem to smoke and drink. Incoming expected pass the Barrat 50.

100% correct I have never studied firearms law.

And yet strangly, every police region FAD has confirmed MY understanding of the situation??? Including Sussex?
Where’s the radio loose supervision condition in writing ? Funnily enough they seem very reluctant to confirm that ....

I don't think any of this procrastinating and quoting of previous Government exploits gets us anywhere. I shall vote for Boris on this one, not because I think he is the best thing since sliced bread, but because Brexit is the aim of his (present day) Conservative party. Labour is just waiting to get it's hands on the purse strings for that terrorist sympathiser to lead us to economic disaster. Pam Ayers and the Lib Dems wants to make us a federal European state, and as much as Nigel and Co. are to be admired on their Brexit stand their broader policies remain shrouded, at present.

The apathy approach of not voting does nothing but show apathy, every vote counts. This is your chance to help change the future, take it! Moaning that the outcome is not what you wanted will reap no rewards after the event. IMHO if you want out of Europe, and all the carp that will accompany it's inevitable demise, vote Conservative. If you want a miserable future choose accordingly.

Simples :)

John
