Meat Eater

When I was shopping for a scope I was always told the amercan made glass isn't as good for the light conditions we have over here but that's all rumours. I've a pair of vortex Binos and my mate has a vortex scope and they are both fantastic glass. Can't complain at all about them.

I think it's a bit of snobbery. If you don't have Swaros or a Schmidt and Bender then you're not a real hunter.
fair. I wonder how many uk shops stock Vortex. I’ve not seen it listed locally to me

I have two pairs and rate them highly. I have used high-end European binos ( belonging to others) and would say that the only difference was in feel and looks the lens quality is excellent. That said, it could just be my eyes.

I bought mine on sale at London camera exchange. They are everywhere and will do price match.

But as i’ve said on here before, I’m not a fan of the vortex binocular ‘bra’. I’m back on the original sling following a rather discomfiting photo of me wearing it with a t shirt. There was lifting and separating of udders and I did not feel good.

Monarch now stock them and there are a few eBay stores that stock them too!
I think I’m going to replace my 8x56Klassic with their 3-24x50s with ballistic turrets, and maybe my set of ancient (East German) zeiss Binos.

I really rate Vortex gear. Can’t speak for their binoculars but 5 out of my 7 optics are Vortex made. Recently bought a Razor Gen 2 scope over the S&B PM2 - not an easy decision at all but I don’t regret it at all. The glass and build quality is outstanding, the turrets are the best I’ve used. Weighs a tonne but it feels unbreakable and I don’t think you can beat Vortex for warranty and customer service.

Perhaps you could post the photo? Wouldn't want any of your 'friends' on SD making the same mistake now would you?

Anyone know how to get seasons 1 to 4 as seems to have been taken off Netflix before I found this excellent series .

Best try the best German/European optics available against the 'flavour-of-the-month' types side by side and at the same times ;), looking at a screen-test type poster or similar for comparison before determining which is 'better' in terms of performance. Most professionals seem to go for the top-drawer optics, but then their job depends on having the best, price is a secondary consideration.

Convince yourself either way though, it doesn't matter. There seems to be a goodly supply of second hand examples coming available too, which is a useful coincidence!
