Slings - Z Aim or Niggeloh backpack sling

Members - I've been looking at both of these for this years Scottish excursion.
I'm fed up of trying to stay on my feet whilst struggling with a slipping rifle.
I've been steered towards a Vorn riflepack, but on trying it the release doesn't feel instinctive and I'm concerned about the weight of the rifle with wet gloves etc, so I think it's a non starter no matter how good some of you will tell me it is.
Has anyone got practical experience of both the Z Aim double sling or the Niggeloh backpack sling ? I've seen the Niggeloh one in action and it looks good, but the Z Aim also looks like a contender.
Your thoughts would be appreciated.
 
I have a niggeloh backpack sling on my rifle. A heavy steyr ssg69 and I have full confidence in it. Very well made and to me a better design then the zaim. Couldn't be dealing with that cord around the pistol grip!
 
I use the Niggeloh rifle sling and I find it comfy to wear pretty secure and can be deployed in a couple of seconds once you have done a bit of practice at home first. I also have a tradition sling that I use muzzle down. The traditional is quicker to deploy, but I tend to use the Niggeloh more especially at the moment when the ground is slippy and I need to have a secure rifle.

The release buckle is useable through a decently thick pair of gloves but I do feel there will be an issue if you wear very very thick gloves.

Once deployed you need to catch both ends of the quick release and snap them back together. Obviously. This can be tricky with one hand holding the rifle and only one free hand to sort the sling.
 
I've got both and love both but out the two the z aim has it love it for sturdyness keeps rifle snug on back the nigeloh looks a better sling thou but found if wearing it as a rucksack the rifle still flops about on your back!
Tend to use the nigeloh sling on my extreme semi auto shotgun while out fowling these days
 
I have both Z-aim and Ruck sling. Where the sling is attached to the bottom of the stock I find the Z-aim is better as the rifle is held in a more conventional position and doesn’t flip flop from side to side. If the sling can be mounted on the left side of the rifle foreend and stock then the ruck sling becomes much better as the flat side of the rifle is held flat against the back in a very comfortable and stable position that stops the rifle flopping from side to side
 
I have both Niggeloh and more recently, the Z-Aim. If you're using a Harris bipod or similar and the Niggeloh attached, it is quite uncomfortable in the middle of the back and still swings about from side to side. I only used this when i needed both hands free.

Having recently bought the Z-Aim, I'm totally converted. It can be a bit inconvenient having a trailing strap attached to the pistol grip, but when it's strapped around your body, it is rock solid and I've stalked a long way with it without issue. You soon get used to having to unclip it and take the rifle off your shoulder. So, so comfortable and have both hands free all the time. You can also wear it with a separate rucksack, which you can't with the Niggeloh.
 
I have the niggeloh and I don't experience any "flopping around", it has a velcro band to prevent this, initially I did think this may be a problem [velcro being somewhat noisy in operation] but up to now it hasn't proved to be so. in reality the rifle is generally out of quarry earshot when being carried backpack fashion.

That's what the strap and Velcro is for at the bottom of the sling it goes around the grip it holds the rifle flat against your back and stops it swinging all over,regards wayne
 
I've got both. I use the Niggeloh on my heaviest rifle (24" varmint barrel, big scope and AICS stock) and I found that the comfiest/ the straps are gripper and more comfy.

On sporter style rifles I use the Z-Aim (because that's what I've got). And they are very comfy to use/ lock the rifle very stable on your back.

To be honest I don't thing you'll be disappointed with either. If its a heavy rig my personal view is the Niggeloh edges it.

Yep know that Wayne but still flops around still rate the z aim over the nigeloh for practicality
 
I’ve been using the ruck sling for years. Best bit of advice is get it set up properly, one strap needs to be shorter than the other. I can slip the rifle off my back and deploy my quad sticks at the same time. Very easy to get on with

Had both. Got 2 (or maybe 3 Z aims) and the niggy got moved on
