New Nissan Navara

Looking at diffrent new trucks at the moment and like the look of the Nissan navara tekna auto, what I was wondering is in the real world whatdo you think.
I currently have a 54 plate Hilux which I bought nearly new which is fine but I'm thinking of having a treat plus something more comfortable on the old back. I like the Hilux range but the rear suspension is agricultural.
This vechile will be a car come dog transport with very occasional towing. Off road will be weekend on estate deer stalking/ recovery.

Heard that the new navara is the best drive out of all the pickups, think having coils on the rear makes a big difference but don’t know if you lose a bit of that when towing.

My friend has a new Navara and seems happy with it but he's only had it a couple of weeks, He's just hoping they resolved the chassis problem, Ive just bought the New Shape Mitsibushi L200 having got rid of my 2 year old Hilux, The Hilux was never out the garage with various faults, 2 new rear bumper due to parking sensor issues, new front parking sensors, new ad blue tank, 2 new glow plugs on the same cylinder, inside door handles coming away from the door card. The mitsibushi is a joy to drive compared. try and get one on a 24hr test drive, that's what I done with the L200 before I bought it and tbh can't fault it.

If I was in the market for a replacement truck I’d be looking at the Amarok - especially as you mention ‘more of a car’. I’m an ex Navara owner (older style), current Hi-Lux driver, maybe wanta be Amarok owner............

Yes they are a nice truck but two things put me off
One the price and two no low box

Do it! I’ve had the Amarok Auto since late 2012 and the manual prior to that. Supremely comfortable for a truck - Mid Devon to Glencoe in one hit and arrived fresher than in any previous car, Hook of Holland to Faxe, Denmark was the same - just like driving a Golf on steroids. Put a set of BFGs on and it’s surprisingly capable off-road with the centre Torsen and rear locking diffs.

Simply no need for a low box with the 8 speed auto with permanent 4WD as, in addition to the ultra low 1st gear and the previously mentioned Torsen self-locking centre diff, hitting the Off-Road button changes the engine and gearbox characteristics to suit.

I’ve had one for 2 years and have a hilux for work, the Navara is much nicer inside and has more get up and go, it also has a lumbar support in the drivers seat which I find fantastic, none of the other pick ups have a lumbar support.
it goes through brakes quite fast and it has just recently needed a new battery and it snapped a front spring but i Prefer my Navarro over the works hilux.
ill be honest though I had the old one and that was a nice truck pity about the chassis.
i got a discount of around 25% when I bought mine from Bristol street motors in Darlington.
if you have any questions drop me a line

In the market for a truck, but as much as I like the Amarok, it has been ruled out by the boss due to no crash protection past the front row, rendering it not suitable as a family unit.

Navara
D22 engines blow up at 60,000 miles, Nissan denied any issue.
D40 chassis rotted through. Nissan denied any issue as long as they could.
I am not sure i would trust Nissan .

Ranger wild track for me if towing or d max xlr it not wouldn’t trust a nissan again as had to many issues with navara in the past

Nissan are awful to deal with when things go wrong. My 2012 D40 was the best vehicle I have owned but when it was called in for chassis rot it was like they had never heard of customer service!

I bought a new tekna auto about three or four weeks ago,so far very happy it drives very well for a pick up..the latest models have addressed the earlier issues, soft rear springs, slow steering...ect..
i have a canopy and Gearmate drawers fitted BFs ordered
I did lots of research before deciding, but it hits a lot of the bottoms, with 190 hp,450 Nm torque, 7 speed auto, heated leather seats, coils spring rear, disc brakes on the rear and even apple car play with 8” screen.. and with by far the best deals around,
I am very happy 30 odd mpg whats not to like...i Always wanted a Hilux but I don’t think they are what they used to be and expensive...
good luck Tikka595

The Nav is the best of the lot in my opinion. Doesn't have the 'cool' Hilux name, btu beats it in most if not all ways. Although I just got rid of mine for a 2011 Defender, so I might not be the guy to listen to!

I had one for 2 years. Hated it with a passion. Tekna auto. Built from eggshells, I found the seats incredibly uncomfortable (missus hated it too). Electric windows were stupidly slow. Air con was either arctic or tropical. Nissan were an absolute shower of shite to deal with over various issues I had. I’m sure there were various other issues but can’t recall as I’ve wiped the whole sorry experience from my head!

I’ve got a DMax now which I really like. A bit less refined but it just works!

some really good Isuzu D Max deals going at the momment
That’s because they have a completely new model coming in September.Probably going to go for one of these over another Nissan mines has 160’000miles 4years old been ok very comfortable truck to drive fast powerful. After sales and Nissan not so good had an annoying problem of it going into limp mode from about 80,000 may have just cured it but it’s cost a couple of grand.Problem with DPF not a warranty part not a service part either so when it gives up it’s about £1200 to change it.

Thats true about the new model coming out but still got a good deal i had an isuzu when i worked in south africa with no prblems bought a new one when i came back to the uk run it for 5 years no problems pick a new one up Friday .Think the new model is going back to having a diff lock but think its the same engine

Well I went yesterday and had a test drive of the Nissan, very nice quiet and smooth. I'm still looking at other makes and will take those out in the next few days.
Not very impressed with Tyson Cooper as they tried to tie me to two diffrent colours blue and black and if I didn't have these it was £500 more while my local dealer didn't have any such restraints and there price was near enough the same working blind plus they have a demo. I have made the BASC administration team aware of this
