Covid-19

Well the pound to Euro is in free fall so the financial world sees brexit/UK"s response ability to CV as other than comforting.
But it is only money after all, must say I am glad my freelance career finished a couple of years ago as chasing a living now will be a nightmare, my best wishes to those still in the earnings meat grinder.

Word in the grapevine- Announcement at 5pm BBC1 will be quite a big one.
London will be on lockdown tomorrow, rest of the country to follow within a week.

The Education Secretary is going to announce all that? I'm expecting school closures at 5pm.
My guess is friday for London lockdown. Already quite a lot quieter here.

Don’t shoot the messenger  besides I’m sure it’ll be BoJo announcing this kind of info not the Ed sec

If you spent every year of your school days working towards taking 'A' Levels this June you must now forget them. It was all for nothing as they ain't going ahead for the year in question. They are cancelled. Not postponed.

Many, many tears today from distraught 17/18-year old students who've just seen their world slip away and who don't give a fook about bog roll supplies.

We truly are in mealt-down and I challenge anyone to demonstrate otherwise however credible and strong your Dunkirk spirit may be.

Truly are in a meltdown! You jest, surely?
I hope not taking their A levels on time is the worst they have to endure in life. Baby snowflakes comes to mind.
Ken.

The exam boards are finding ways to allocate grades without the final exam. This is from the AQA website

I want you to know that, over the coming months, we’ll be working tirelessly with schools, regulators and government to make sure young people who were due to take AQA exams this summer still achieve the qualifications they need to progress to the next stage of their lives – and that all the hard work our students and teachers have already put in is properly rewarded.

The young bucks and does ( my son included) will get sorted, just in a different way.

I would't mind betting the mod will be called in to stop the unwashed getting the hump with being treated as sub-humans as we do and have been in past history by the weekend would say old bill but then again Mrs Mayday put pay to that ?

I could have gone on to regale you of everything I've heard first-hand in the last 3 days from business leaders through to but one contractor who's had no choice but to lay off 259 employees but I'm guessing that's just more snowflake mushy nonsense to you?

Then there is the realisation by commercial property owners and those who service them that many of their Tenants will be seriously questioning why they need to occupy 50,000sq/ft when 90% of their staff can actually deliver what's required from a spare bedroom office.

You started your post by regaling us about kids who worked their whole life life to take A levels!
17 and 18 year olds seen their world slip away. FFS.
No mention of what your now saying.

We will survive, a mere blip in life.
Regards,Ken.

I don’t remember there being many shelves, let alone food and bog rolls to stack on them when I was a lad.
What goes around...
Ken.

Took them long enough for that to sink in then - even without the current CV-19 pandemic. Pity that so many pension funds and Local Authorities with funds that could have been better employed servicing their communities thought it was a good idea to invest in them!

Rather large pigeons inbound methinks.

I hate the way the media keep banging on about working from home. Don't they realise not everyone sits in a chair and looks at a screen for a living?

To be fair, they do say ‘Work from home’ if you can.
Ken.

PS. Seems like some have the attitude they’ve lost the fight before it’s begun!

Nor does everyone have a spare bedroom to convert onto an office or a spare garage to convert into a room or a spare kitchen table etc.

You get the message.
