Darwin award. To me....

I got one for the missus a few years back but the petrol version, did her well at the time, she wanted summat "different" ,,, now drives a '63 chevy pickup, with a camaro motor fitted.
Bet it costs a good bit to fill... And run.. Guy who works near me is into his rat rods, the most recent one is a 6l v8 chevvy on edlebrock's returning a mighty 6mpg lol

Hope your on the mend, **** happens but you lived to tell the tale. You will laugh about it one day :D about the car, whats actually damaged on it? You will find most panels to be cheap, especially if you find one in a breakers. Pm me if you need help sourcing parts, happy to help
Needs every front panel from the bonnet down, plus undertrays and wheel arch liners.
Dash is damaged too. Steering wheel is flopping (probably just the height adjuster but depends how and where it's broken). The stalks and controls are bust too.

Not sure about the chassis. Can't see it yet but it took a hell of a pounding, hit a compacted flint track nose first and snow-ploughed through.

jeez, he must have a lead foot, she can get around 18-20 mpg, shes on tickover most of the time, but if you nail it the tyres light up and that fuel gauge drops pretty quick, but the torque will pull a bungalow off its footings. :thumb:
my old willys gasser was over 400horse and did around 10-11 mpg.

If the chassis is straight it's not too bad it would probably be doable. Is it a proper ladder chassis or monocoque? I can't remember on them. You could take the opportunity to rip the front end off, fit a winch bumper and winch, flared arches and make it a big vit, there's half of that taken care of. Under trays I wouldn't be too concerned about, will want the slam panel doing though. Pm me if you need a hand

For the last 30,000 miles it's been a bloody good little car. Totally reliable, brilliant off-road, light on its feet and nice inside. Rear load space is a bit tight. The engine lacks grunt and the electrically operated transfer box can be a pain to get back into high range. Needed a remap to get decent fuel economy and you've got to keep on top of the DPF. But for the money they're cracking cars. I will miss it.

Thanks for that. Appreciate it. It's a proper ladder frame and quite a hefty one and mine is rust free. If I can find a way I might buy a pickup but keep the Vit and do as you suggest. I had been planning to fit a 2" lift kit to get the tow bar out of the dirt but never got round to it.

No bother, chassis should be good then! Group on Facebook called 4x4 stuff for sale, get a few trucks and land rovers for sale for quite a reasonable price. Maybe worth a look

There’s a few Suzuki groups on Facebook. And plenty of people breaking them for spares on the groups. You should be able to find all the panels you need possibly even in the right colour.
You will probably find what you need between these three.

Well I am actually covered for off-road accidents on my insurance, as it wasn't a competition event or business. Leisure activity - shooting...

Trouble is, it's not worth claiming. They're certain to write it off because of the age of the car and there's £595 excess to come off the pay-out. I'll be left with two thirds of f**k all, plus five years loading on my claims record.

Looks like I'll recover the car and either flog it spares or repairs or fix it up myself as I can find used parts.

In the meantime I need a cheap 4X4 pickup. Very cheap...

You are a survivor my friend stay lucky.
Had a similar one but I wasn't in the motor.
Dropped my bins out of window of Toyota Hilux, did a circuit to pick them up on a steep brae leaned out of door to do so instead of stopping.
You have it, I fell out and away went the truck into a wood 150 yds downhill Truck nil Trees 1.
The boss was not a happy bunny.
Did similar with a landrover, lost it on a track took to the woods and luckily hit a tree. I say lucky because if I had missed it 40ft drop into the river. Again that boss (a Rupert was not amused). :coat:
