Stalking locked down?

There will be a point in time were an entire economy cannot work with everyone not working. My guess is about 2 months max.

I can't speak for the economy but I do know that my own businesses will be almost destroyed by this virus. I'm not alone in that, the solution to it is currently unknowable, and the question is probably one for another day.

I reckon all of us will survive this thing day by day rather than month by month...

Yet again...what part of 'stay at home' is difficult to understand?

No body said stay at home unless it doesn't suit you, or because an FEO says so(?), or because a farmer says so.

An instruction from the PM trumps all that .... 'stay at home' was his clear and unequivocal instruction.

That's it. Surely?

To do this is bad PR for shooters, whether your FEO agrees or not.

Look at Wetherspoons and Sports Direct: I wouldn't want to be a shareholder in either of them once this is all over and the public start punishing them for their greed. We really don't want to share that boat.
I tend to agree Carl and, if I may, I might add that Tim Martin & Mike Ashley were cnuts of biblical proportion before all of this - profit before conscience (or people)...

Just think of the scenarios. Go out shoot a deer or two, this might save a tree or two and food on the table.

Or you could go out get nothing, have the virus or catch the virus and pass it on to others. This is what it's all about, prevention and slowing down the transmission of a virus. Its a serious situation.

I was out last night and shot 2 roe. I gralloched them and left them to collect with the quad in the morning. After seeing the pm's speech i thought i would be unable to collect them. Yes it goes against the grain to waste anything but if i got them in and took them to the larder and then get fuel then i increase the chances of cross contamination of humans.

Button down the hatches and ride out the storm

Just thought I'd write this on here...

I've been in contact the farmer on one of my permissions. He wishes me to continue pest control over his crops. I have called my FEO asking what his stance on this would be and he gave me the following guidance:
"Are you in contact with any other people? No. Are you self-isolating, be it in a field or at home? Yes. Are you carrying out a task that is necessary for the protection of crops and thus the production of food? Yes. Then apply some common sense, get out and do your job"

Warwickshire Constabulary for anyone who is curious. I shall be getting a letter of instruction from the farmer and I shall be going out and self-isolating in a hedge somewhere blasting pigeons

Like my FEO says, apply common sense. Are we in the habit of lethally wounding ourselves as shooters? Are we REALLY going to be a burden on emergency services?

Stay cooped up if you want but the aim is clear, stay away from other people - be it at home or in a field

Edit: Want to add that this isn't intended to kick up a storm but there is an option to get out and enjoy our hobby even amongst all this chaos going on, your circumstances may be different

I find that a little disturbing, You are from Milton Keynes, quoting Warwks Constabulary, either way that's some distance to go. Where are you actually shooting, how far from home?

This, From my licensing dept:

OFFICIAL

Good afternoon.

Thank you for your email. It is not for Police Scotland to make an assessment on your behalf on what activities you can undertake at this time. This is for you to decide. You must take into account all government advice and guidelines in respect of staying at home and restricting your movement to essential travel only. Please do not put yourself and others at risk - the health and safety of our communities is of paramount importance.

(Ends)

Best check with Boris, then, and thereafter get to the supermarket!

The biggest issue is the uncertainty, not knowing if this thing will be an issue for 3 weeks or 3 months leaves planning finances in a business impossible. So many will go to the wall in all this through no fault of their own and there is a huge lack of detail from the government concerning the guarantee to pay up to 80% of wages. HR advisors are saying we wont know until at least the end of the week whether we recommend registering for it, in the meantime families are shitting themselves about how they are going to cope.

I just have to let you know how I see this. Coronavirus there is NO cure as there is no cure for the common cold and the flu, and if you think you can stay in for twelve weeks and then go out and not catch it you are a fool. this lockdown is to try to slow down the virus so that everyone don't catch it all at once, as it would overrun the NHS. This virus is all around the world now and you all will catch it at some point just as you do the flu. I have just heard, "don't know if true yet". That if your farmers where you shoot need protection for there livestock regarding lambing/ chickens ETC and write a letter asking you for protection, you will not be breaking the law but at the present there is no law to stop you yet. Just try to help everyone you can, but try to take care of yourself, the old, and the sick. Take care, all of you. ATB David.

JUST USE YOUR COMMON SENSE FFS

Recently moved to Warwickshire, Stalking Directory wasn't up there with places to update my location like driving license and banking address :p

It's about a 30 minute drive away but it's inconsequential, the amount of contact with others will still be zero

I just hope in that 30 min drive you don't break down or have an accident. I have no contact with others but the PM said isolate (even more today) and a colleague on here has a wife very involved with infectious diseases. If she says people are nuts for carrying on travelling about and shooting I listen to her as she would take my advice reference stalking.
I was thinking I would carry on at one stage but listening to front end experts I saw the light. :tiphat:

Apart from a lot of impromptu signs that have appeared "advising" tourists to "go away" (although not quite in those words), the countryside looked like it was open for business when I went out and about this morning: Same old cluster of crusty old farts huddled around a dead impliment outside the local ag engineer's yard, the usual local tradesmen and odd-jobbers buzzing about, and a gang of fencing contractors fixing up a boundary fence. And me, checking my sheep which are dotted about in fields all around the area.
Perhaps if it was raining everyone would stay in.
