Stalking locked down?

My guns and rifles will be staying firmly put in the cabinets, I will not be shooting in any form until told it is ok to do so.

But, and this is a serious question, I have two fields, very rural, about 1 minute drive from where I live. Within these fields I have quite a large allotment, all fenced, water from a bore hole, all the beds are ready to go for growing veg. There is very, very little chance of coming into contact with anyone unless they are trespassing. Would tending to my fields and allotment, and using them to exercise my dog be justified. Thoughts please.
I’d have thought so I have an allotment 150 yards from my front door ( on its own ) so I’m going to combine my dog walk with sorting my raised beds

If its not considered necessary for those of us who do it for a living and have to stay home ,why would it be ok for
a recreational stalker, you just need to accept that its over for the foreseeable future.
Can you walk to your stalking area without meeting anyone ,can you manually carry the carcass home again
without meeting anyone then perhaps you can, if you need to drive then no you can't for two reasons that have
already been pointed out if you are using a car then if you are involved in an RTA you are tying up valuable
resources that are needed elsewhere in the fight against the virus, police, ambulance, hospital and don't say that
is unlikely to happen it can and does no one goes out thinking they will be involved in an accident but there are
hundreds if not thousands every day.
Secondly if you use a car then at some point you have to refuel, fuel stations are known to be one of the highest
risk area due to the volume of people passing through them.
Of course thats a risk a lot of us have to take for essential travel if we live in rural areas ( food or medical needs )
certainly not so that you can carry o a hobby.

My grandson is a keeper who lives up a Highland glen miles from the nearest village but they get lots of
walkers , picknickers, and campers just had word that he and his family have had to go into lockdown my two year
old Great Grand Daughter has come down with corona virus symptoms, hopefully it will prove negative but a
worrying time for all
No idea who or where the contact was made if it proves positive.

For goodness sake think of others! And stay safe.
Hope she’s ok and you and yours keep safe :tiphat:

re Farcebook, somebody phoned their FAL the jist is, recreational stalking verboten, if caught travelling to a shoot/stalk may be regarded as non-compliance with regulations and God help you if you have a breakdown or an accident. Crop protection OK but better if you have written request on you from land owner etc. Stalking your own ground if you live on it ie you actually own/lease -as in tenant farmer- , OK but not if you have to travel to it. Not sure if this is a response for a specific constabulary, or a general position. That seems to be a cover for Gamekeepers, but I would clarify with your local FAL. So it's make, reload and mend time for most of us.

May I suggest that Boris states that all guns are only allowed to be stored in cabinets until the emergency is over or until food is needed for the population, then all hobby jobbys would be in violation of their FAC/SGC cert. End off.

Can you tell me how long we need to "stay in"? Like weeks, months, years? Not being a smart arse but if you left it to the doctors nobody would do anything.

So here is another professor who is trying to model the "flatten the curve" what that means in real numbers not some BS curve with no numbers on the x axis that is being spouted by politicians.

I usually store my firearms there anyway.

Have you gone native? Assuming of course that Frau Merkel has already issued such a directive and you are complying with it?

I spoke with Police Scotland today and was told anyone caught shooting in any shape or form not for their No1 employment will be deemed irresponsible and have their ticket revoked! be warned.
Doing the responsible thing, I've written to local firearms office seeking their clarification of my own situation, happy to follow their guidance either way; what I do has been my way of life and sole means of self support for the past 15 years :tiphat:

Following current UK Government instructions, I will be back in the UK tomorrow (last plane out of dodge!) I will get in my car, which wife and son will take down to the airport for me and then they return home together in wife's car. I will then be self isolating in a private wood across the field from home for 14 days, hammock, tarp firebox stove etc. If I happen to have a .410 with me and have chance to shoot a squirrel or two, then I will. This is not being in anyway irresponsible, in fact quite the opposite. It is being self reliant and avoids people and shops etc.

Son has already provisioned the spot with rice and spices, flour and some yeast etc and there is water nearby (that will need a boil) . There are already plenty of hedgerow edibles for people who know where to look. I love wild garlic. Son will also do a food drop if necessary. So by doing the above I will be able to avoid all people including close family for the required quarantine time. This is not the same as looking for an excuse for recreational stalking , though apart from a few who have said about"if you have an accident" etc. though to them I would say if someone does have an accident whilst out stalking on their own, so long as the accept the risk to themselves and agree to involve no rescue services, good luck to them. For goodness sake , when will people stop having to rely on a safety net for all their own actions?
It beggars belief.

Just spoke to my local firearms office, they know no more than any of us have heard from the news. So i guess ill just go out when i next get a day off work take the dog for a walk and shoot some vermin. Can walk to a permission with gun in slip.

good afternoon, freeforester,i am in similar position as you except I have my service pension but deer management is my living income but as of yesterday not only from boris but also from the land owner as he has self isolated and we have been told to stand down and not enter the estate so that's it for me, walk the dog read the forum and do some reloading! try and keep safe out there!

Go to your nearest window and pull a cloth from your back pocket give the glass a little rub and maybe just maybe you will see how clearly things look

To all those who are desperately trying to justify going out with gun or rod and line, what is wrong with you ?
We have instructions to stay at home, its not an optional thing, and it will be idiots like you who spread the virus about.
If I had my way, and those already infected had there's you would be minus certificate and anything shooting related, and under arrest.
Grow up and take some responsibility for once in you selfish lives.

Neil.
Not for you to tell anyone mate, let alone tell people to grow up. Its worse waiting outside a supermarket so if ive got the option I know which one I'm going with wether you like it or not. Oh, and stupid comments like that is why you ain't in charge lol. Get s grip of yourself and look what's going on the rest of the country like London for example.

Thats humberside firearms by the way to save anyone a call

My usual jaunt to gap180 this weekend has been cancelled but hey ho ,

If I could walk out of my back door onto my own secluded ground I would

But I don't have that luxury , and have to travel to my perms

So the shooting and fishing is on hold till this bollox gets sorted

Gutted I am( and not being outdoors in my spare time goes reet against the grain, but I've got a garden) , but you gotta think of the big picture

Be well and be sensible , we don't want this bollox carrying on just coz a few brain deads can't entertain themselves for a few week

Kjf

Nope just have a reasonable brain and am using it instead of being obstructive.
